A Little Phin Power for Moi

i know i'm being selfish here but i think i may need some help.

i was eating lunch and a big chunk of my back molar came off. i have a big filling there and luckily it seems to be intact ( i hope).
however, the piece that came off seems to go to the gum line or somewhere near it. i am praying that the tooth can be saved and all i will need is a cap. hubby just went through something like this but the crack was below the gum line and and he needed an implant. the whole process took a year.

this is where the problem comes in. a few years back when i was at the dentist getting another filling replaced it was discovered that some of my nerves will not accept novicane or some other numbing drug. i had to deal with the pain. no matter how much stuff i got shot up with, it wouldn't take. seems the other side of my jaw has the same thing. now i am afraid of going to the dentist. when i found out that hubby had to have his tooth pulled it freaked me right out. ...concerning myself. after braces i thought i'd never have to have a tooth pulled. the thought that i'd have to have this and with no numbing drugs...........YIKESSS ( visions of Marathon Man are running through my brain) [smilie=laff.gif] [smilie=cwl.gif]

i know that this is small potatoes compared to what others are going through but it's big for me.

any prayers would be appreciated. thanks

**shudder** From a dental phobic, I feel your pain!

If the novocaine really won't work, how about being sedated?

Loads of prayers and phin power your way!!

Hang in there Carol, maybe you'll only need a crown. If that's it, piece of cake. Well, maybe that's not a good choice of words when we're dealing with teeth. :o

Dentist offices have to be about my least favorite place on the planet, and that's with novocaine and laughing gas. :-? :-? :-? Without??? I can't even imagine!

Sending Phin Power that it's a quick easy fix, or you that you can go the sedation route!

My dentist doesn't do extractions so when I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled 5 years ago he referred me to an oral surgeon. He gave me 3 shots, a couple of minutes between each one, then told me he couldn't get the tooth out intact so he would have to break it and take it out in sections. I kept waiting for, not pain, but at least the sensation of the tooth coming out. After about 5 minutes he tapped me on the shoulder and said "OK, we're done here." I never felt a thing.

Carol... I had a lot of dental work last year.... about 6 months of appointments.... I feel your potential pain... It took 11 shots to finally numb the roof of my mouth. The shots hurt as bad as the work I had done.

Phin power to you my phrend! 8)

Same experience here, although 20 years ago. Was scheduled to get all four wisdom teeth out at once. They did a couple, then looked like they were finishing up. I motioned with four fingers that they were supposed to do all four. They laughed, said they did all four already. Drugs are great.

Phin power to you, remember that all the worrying is usually much worse than the actual procedure itself. And a Jell-O diet, with the right ingredients, can be fun for a day or two. :P
