I would probably say yes to both, however, in terms of the Mitchell report, was it free agents like A-Rod that opted out or regular free agents that are at the end of their current contract?
Also, I think this sets a precedent that is not good for any agent, not just Boras. Now all teams can say, we won't negotiate if an agent is present. There is no law, that I know of, that says that teams have to negotiate with agents.
it doesn't!!.....he could of just fired him!!!.The only thing i'd worry about as A-Rod is what dirt Boras has on him!!!..and Schilling negotiated his own contract!!!

I think this is just a case of Boras biting way too much than he can chew. The longer that A-Rod stays a free agent, the more Boras hurts A-Rod by demanding so much money from the get-go, and thus making A-Rod look like a fool when that $350 million base demand keeps dropping.
By the way, general question to everyone, especially those of you who don't want their team to sign A-Rod: what if he signs with your team? I'm especially interested to hear fans' POV on this because many of us that post here have been pretty adamantly anti A-Rod (or A-Fraud)?
Personally as a Yankees fan, I don't think I'd resent A-Rod coming back. Especially looking at the potential lineup that dp66 posted awhile back, the Yankees are essentially relying on Giambi to fill the power void that A-Rod left, and they still lose their only RH power in the lineup. I'm not saying it's essential that the Yankees resign him (Giambi's come back from worse and still been effective), but I'd certainly like the Yankees chances more with A-Rod in the lineup. I'm not going to stop rooting for the Yankees because he resigned, and I'm not going to root against him if he's wearing pinstripes.

Also, pretty funny parody of Dane Cook and his "One October" commercials:

I still won't want him as part of the Red Sox because I think it's more than just money. Money has a part in it but I think he is more of a cancer.

having in a line-up with Him...Manny and Papi is intriguing.....but the thing is can he adapt to The Red Sox...i see the Yankees as white color champagne drinking and The Red Sox more blue color beer and shots...would he fit in with that!!!

IF he is a choice for the Red Sox, I would have him as a third choice (if you consider 3rd basemen. I'm not sure on ShortStop though.

When Ray Allen was with the Milwaukee Bucks, he had his agent negotiate out a contract. He then fired the agent, asked the team to revise the proposal. They did....therefore removing his agent's work from consideration. Allen hired a lawyer at a flat hourly fee to read it over. Allen signed the contract and saved himself MILLIONS in agent fees.

CNNSI is reporting that ARod and NY are close on a deal for $280 over 10 years which is more than NY offered ($230M) before he opted out. It also includes incentives which could bring the deal to $300M. However I believe this deal would actually be a pay cut

from what he could have made had he not opted out. The $230M offer in early Oct. was an extension to the current deal he had. Either way he will get less than the $350M Boras said he would command on the open market. According to the article
Boras, is in intense negotiations with top Yankees people in an effort to wrap up what will be the biggest contract in baseball history, eclipsing A-Rod's former deal.
Another article said that ARod had been doing the negotiations with Boras acting as an adviser. Boras has been with ARod in Miami for a few days working on this. So it doesn't look like any grievances are forthcoming.
In the end it looks like ARod would have lost out on $30 or so million by opting out

way to go Boras, way to go.

I think it didn't take ARod long to find out that very few teams could afford his salary demands. Even the ones that could, if they're smart, would sign three $10M a year players as opposed to a single $30M player. Of course, if he ends up back with the Yankees, Boras will do his Donald Trump impersonation -- "greatest thing ever, this is what we wanted all along, glad to be back."
Yankee fans didn't exactly embrace Rodriguez with open arms the first time, I'd guess even less so this time.

I refuse to believe that Canadians play baseball . . . the Bluejays are just there for political reasons.
