Mobile, AL concert?

Post by MobileBama »

Did any of you attend the concert in Mobile a few years ago? (I'm not exactly sure when it was) Just curious what your thoughts were of that show, the tailgating and the city of Mobile... if you can remember. Thanks for any responses

Also, do most of you who have traveled all over the country to see JB, do the concerts all run together, or do you remember specific things from each concert? Thanks again for your responses

Never been to Mobile, so can't help you with that one....

I've been to several shows in several venues, but each one has something/someone(s) special to remember it by..... :D

I've been to several shows in Mobile, can't remember the name of the outside venue but there was some great tailgating. Late 80's I think. The Mobile convention center was OK, probably too small a venue these days.

Haven't been to a Mobile concert....but the concerts I have been to are very memorable, they don't run together (memory-wise).
But I would imagine if I'd gone to concerts for 20 or more years, several times a year, they'd kinda mesh together.

You just weren't drinking enough!! I think the concerts run together, the pre-parties and tailgates are individually memorable, though pinning the year for each one is an impossibility for me!

Actually the first Mardi Gras celebrated in North America was in Louisiana at Mardi Gras Point on the Mississippi River a few years before the one in Mobile. New Orleans had the first Carnival parades from what I can recall.

But Mobile has Joe Cain Day.

I've been in Mobile for Carnival and it's quite boring compared to New Orleans. Never been in Mobile for Mardi Gras, just New Orleans.

Ducky, Mobile started Mardi Gras and had the first parades. Also, our Mardi Gras may be "boring", but at least you can have some fun without being shot, mugged, raped or p*** on  . I'll be looking for you on the next Girls Gone Wild or COPS episode when they come for New Orleans Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras was transformed into a parade event in Mobile by a group known as the Cowbellion de Rakin Society, the first of many of Mobile's so-called mystic organizations who journeyed to New Orleans to help a group there set up a Mardi Gras celebration.

Oh just do some research would you? It started at Mardi Gras Point in Louisiana. That was the first one known in the history of the U.S. I know Mobile had the 'first Mardi Gras' but it's a fact that the first observance and celebration of Mardi Gras was at Mardi Gras Point in LA.

I've never been shot, p*** on, rolled, etc...

Boring in Mobile - what happens after the parades are over with? I've never been able to notice because I could never find anything. It's slightly different in Mobile.

Don't try to describe it if you've never seen it

Notice I said Mardi Gras - one day; not Carnival, which starts January 6th and ends on Mardi Gras. Big difference - very similar to the difference between Mobile and New Orleans for Carnival. Night and day, etc...

Ducky, are you sure you know what you're talking about? Mardi Gras is several weeks long, NOT one day. Fat Tuesday is one day. Joe Cain is one day. Carnival is something held in Brazil.

Are you asking about the Mobile show in 1998 or the one in 1990?

Carnival starts January 6 (Epiphany, King's Day, 12th Night) and ends on Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras is not a season or a week or whatever, it's one day - Fat Tuesday - and one day only. It's the end of Carnival. Carnival is not just some thing in Rio. Carnival is celebrated all over the world.

Do some research.
