The nominations come out in a few minutes.
To me, this was a weak year. None of the movies being talked about really drew a lot of interest from me. It'll be interesting to see...
Peggy and I usually go to a black-tie Oscars party. It's fun! But not this year...not with the baby.

Nominations were interesting. I'll have to look them over before making predictions.

I agree very weak. Mark Walhberg best supporting actor in the Departed?
I saw that and at the time I thought it was bad acting.

I've gone 2 for 2 this year. I haven't seen a single movie that was nominated for an Oscar.

I don't get out much.

Did you really expect Talladega Nights to be nominated for an Oscar? Look how they snubbed Dumb and Dumber a few years ago.

I was really happy to see "Little Miss Sunshine" grab a couple of nominations.....my favorite movie of the year and one of my favorites movies EVER.....if you haven't seen it, really grab the DVD......
The only other movie I'd seen on the list was "Dreamgirls".....Jennifer Hudson was amazing.....as was Eddie Murphy....good movie, but I'm not sure it was as good as all the hype.

I got tired of reading about Dreamgirls and seeing pictures of Beyonce and her fat ass in the paper every day about a month before the movie opened. No chance I'll see it until it comes on TV.

Beyonce was the one thing that kept me from loving this movie......I kept expecting her to go in to "Foxy Cleopatra" from Austin Powers.....she's got a set of pipes, but she doesn't impress me as an actress....(but I do think she has a magnificent fat ass)............

I usually throw an oscar party...
you chip in $5 and get play money. then for each award, you bet play money on who you think is going to win. whoever gets the right person, wins the play money and the one at the end of the night gets all the real money.
we do side bets - like how many people thank their parents, how many will be "played off" by the music.
also play a trivia game and hand out gifts that relate to the best picture nominees

And that is why LMS got nominated for Best Picture and Dreamgirls did not.

Just looked at the list again.....I did see Pursuit of Happyness and Devil Wears Prada.....
I thought Meryl Streep was good in Devil, but not oscar worthy.....it was just and 'okay' movie to me......
Wil Smith in Pursuit......that was good....but his son stole the show in that one!
