Has anyone been to a Super Bowl?

Post by chippewa »

Other threads about the Super Bowl got me to wondering...any BNers ever attended a Super Bowl game? If so, how'd you get tickets...ticket lottery, season ticket holder, scalper, comps from business, etc? Who was your halftime "entertainment"?

I'm not a big NFL fan, but I think this would be one of those events that would be neat to attend....just to say I did it once. If you've got the $$ you can always get a ticket, but I think this (along with the Masters and NCAA b-ball finals) would be one of the tougher tickets to get at face value.

I entered the ticket lottery when the game was in Jacksonville 2 years ago. Dropping the envelope in the mailbox was as close as I got to the game.

Went to the Super Bowl where the Patriots beat the Rams. My cousin was living in NO at the time, so lodging was free, and we got tickets on the street for less than face value two hours before game time (scalpers were practically giving them away day of game...didn't think it was going to be good!). Wound up having good seats, the Pats won, and U2 performed at halftime with the 9/11 tribute. All in all, it was a pretty damn good experience!

I went in 1987 when the Giants and Broncos played in Pasadena. I have family there, and, after the Bears won the year before, I asked my uncle (who, at the time had connections for tickets) to get tickets in case it was the Bears. Went anyway. Lots of fun but nowhere near as crazy as it has become. Face value of our seats was $75!

NOLA in 1997. Packers-Patriots.

My brother was diagnosed with leukemia months before his 18th birthday, so he was treated at Children's Hospital in Denver. We went to the Superbowl courtesy of Make-a-Wish foundation. It was an unforgettable experience.

Thankfully, he's been cancer free for about 8 years now.

I've never been, but Matt's step-brother has, who is a season ticket holder for the Broncos. I think he just got lucky on the lottery, as his season tickets have been passed down through generations. He said it was nothing short of AMAZING. It was the Denver vs. Green Bay game which was one of the best football games every played, IMO.

Just from hearing about these charities, I know that The Make-A-Wish Foundation and others like it (The Marty Lyons Foundation for any Jets fans out there) are some awesome charities.

Never a Super Bowl but did make all 3 games of the 2004 Final Four in San Antonio.

Georgia Tech beat Oklahoma State on a last second shot. Uconn and Duke played an absolute classic that UConn won by one point.

UConn blew out Georgia Tech in the final.

An awesome experience!
