I want to know more about the distraction. Knowing what I know, a thought came to mind, and it surprises me that no one has asked about it.

also, have you tried leaving the microwave door open unless it's in use? the smell will dissipate better with the door open. I realize most of the suggestions are to remove the smell, either by absorbing it or by covering it, but it will go away faster if the door is left open.

I thought I had answered that, but I'm realizing I posted it in the "Oops, I Spilled thread." Hunt that down and you'll have your answer.

I think maybe some folks have learned the "dont' ask, don't tell" policy is what they prefer in my case.

And as for all your suggestions, I fell asleep on the couch last night doing homework so I forgot to put somethin' pretty-smellin' in the microwave, so I'll let you know how I fare. I'm just going to try your suggestions in succession each nite this week. Hopefully by the weekend it won't be stinky.

I am leaving the door open as much as possible though.

Put a can of Glade air freshener inside your microwave and set on "high" for 10 minutes, that oughta do the trick.

At my work there was a rule about not cooking popcorn in the microwave which stemmed from one too many unattended popcorn scorching incidents.
