Very interesting that he chose stingrays.

Wonder if it had anything to do with Steve Irwin.

Have you checked the progress today? It's beautiful.
I just wish there was a live cam on BOTH sides so we
could see how it's all coming along. I'm looking forward
to checking in out in person on our next drive through.

Disclaimer: These pictures do not do the least bit of justice to how mindblowing it was to watch Wyland at work... he's simply amazing! (not to mention, what a beautiful soul!!!) What a talent, and what a gift for him to share with the world, all the while "painting with a purpose" so to speak! :D

Also, these are also merely progress pictures taken on Saturday and Sunday... before many details were added. And for some reason they seem a bit blurry on my screen... not sure if it's a DDU thing or not.

The south side of the building, before the diver (who Wyland said was him), and pelican, and sharks, and...; and the beginning of the east side dolphins:
Image

The east and north sides... I'm not sure who his young helper was, but she was thrilled, and was treated to a round of applause when she was lowered to the ground!
Image

The north side, before a hammerhead among other sea creatures...

Image

The upper left of the south side...

Quite possibly the first, but probably not the last fins up in front of the Key Largo Wyland wall! 8)

It was a steady rain during yesterday's dedication, and enough wind to make it go sideways, so even with our umbrellas, we were soaked clear through to the undergarments! :o Among the many on his list of praises, Wyland did include Steve Irwin and Jacque Cousteau. And due to some pesky rain delays, he's not quite done, and will quietly finish it up and seal it. He also said they will be illuminating it, so it will be seen day and night. There was lots of filming going on, so it would seem there's some sort of documentary in the works, which would be awesome to see!

But what an incredible weekend I had, thanks to my balcony buds!! :D Lots of smiles :D , lots of laughs  , lots of sighs, lots of warm fuzzies! I owe them big time for introducing me to the wonderful world of Wyland!

Great pics and thanks for sharing! :D

How long did it / will it take him to paint the entire building?

WOW, that is beautiful !! That building looks so much better now than it did wearing an old coat of pale yellow (if I remember right) paint. When I saw the pictures, I asked my daughter to come and take a look, she knew in an instant exactly where it was, and she was impressed (takes a lot to impress a 15 year old). I'm sure it will become a Key's landmark, just like the giant lobster and 7 mile bridge down Hwy 1.
