Never made one. Kinda sounds like it might not be very tasty.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw the other day though: "Red meat isn't bad for you, fuzzy green meat is."

They can be nasty but i've also tasted good ones. They are smoothies that contain greens as well as assorted fruits. Usually the dominant fruit is the taste.

Well, McDonald's has their mint-flavored "Shamrock Shakes" available every March.
Does that count as a "green smoothie"?

I don't do the green smoothie (except for frozen margaritas). But I make a breakfast smoothie out of ice, orange juice, organic unsweetened soy milk, lowfat vanilla yogurt, one banana, a generous handful of blueberries, and two scoops of plant-based protein powder. It's yummy, high-energy, and high fiber.

If you use a vanilla protein shake and put any kind of fruit in it you can put in spinach, kale or any number of good greens in it and you won't taste them. I'd also say to put in a "good" fat like a dollop of almond butter or avocado. I never believed it until my local Whole Foods was doing green shakes one day and they were delicious, not gross at all.

Ooooh, I love green smoothies! I've tried making them myself, but am not good about the shopping, chopping, etc. necessary for that. My local Mariano's (grocery store) has a fresh smoothie bar that I visit every weekend. The key ingredients are kale and spinach, but also have to have the necessary fruit in there to make them tolerable! Pineapple, carrot, apples, banana... yum! The "add in's" are key, too. Cayenne pepper, cinnamon... and I like mine with Chia seeds (no, not Chia pet!)

They've become my addiction---- and I don't drink coffee, so I figure any way to get those foods that I won't EAT... I'll drink! :)

Once they got the green off of her, she sure cleaned up nice......      And of course, in the role for which she is best known.....

I'm really fond of chia pudding for breakfast- just chia seeds in almond milk, soaked overnight, with a dash of vanilla extract to eat it plain, or with fruit (we keep a Costco bag of frozen wild blueberries on hand most of the time).

I kind of got over my green smoothie phase, it was just more effort than I wanted to put in.
