Rememberances
I'm sitting here pouring over my father's JB vinyl LP's which I havn't seen in years, and then, as luck would have it I came upon the the tattered remains of a T-shirt from the only JB show I ever went to. It was the summer of '92 and I was 6 1/2 years old (I think) coming along with my parents to the show @ The Gorge, Washington. Anyway this kinda facinated me, and I looked up some JB stuff on wiki and I guess that show is one of only a handful that he didn't play "Pirate Looks at 40"... That must have p*** my dad off in some way... But How can you stay mad at a show. That was my very first concert, and it's probably effected how I live in more ways than I know.
Anyway. Anyone got any good show memories from back when?

My brother brought this teenie Pentax camera back from the Phillipines. It took 110 Instamatic film (look it up) and had interchangeable lenses: standard, macro, tele. We had decent pavilion seats, so I took it apart and snuck it into the show to get some awesome pics of Jimmy onstage. I snapped off about 24 pics during the show.
Either I had the wrong lens on the camera, or Jimmy Buffett is only about 6mm tall.

remembrances
In 1976 at Clemson University, Buffett played at Tillman Aud. Tickets were only $2.50 but we were too broke to pay so we climbed in the window and saw the show for free. That was 29 shows ago.

Back in 1984ish I walked up to the ticket office on the campus of San Diego State Univ. and asked for 4 of the best seats available for Jimmy Buffett. "Who?" was the response. She handed me 4 front row center seats, 35 bucks a piece. The Open Air Theatre held 4200 people....a switch turned on that night and the addiction began. I still have that ticket stub.
54 concerts and counting......

2000. I was going to fly out of Raleigh, NC to go to a wedding. I saw Jimmy was playing the night before, so I bought tickets and went up a day early. I had the greatest time and met some of the nicest people. From then on, it's been an addiction. Looking back, I realize just how much of an amateaur I was. I brought a six pack to the parking lot, thinking that was all I needed for the entire tailgate experience. Boy was I wrong! I have since learned my lesson.

You know, somehow I think that Jimmy would love that story.tigerman77 wrote:In 1976 at Clemson University, Buffett played at Tillman Aud. Tickets were only $2.50 but we were too broke to pay so we climbed in the window and saw the show for free. That was 29 shows ago.

he really is... it's all done with mirrors when he is on stage. Why do you think he's terrified of "giant" beachballs..bravedave wrote:Yeah. Merriweather - '86
