I just sent the Friday Update email to everyone on the contact list. I sent it as a BCC, so check your bulk folders and let me know if you didn't get it.

Alan Jackson's set was halfway over by the time we stumbled in. I'm glad they have him closing the CD since he was the first to take the stage.

No first it was Alan Jackson, then George Strait, then JB. Mrs. Play is a big George Strait fan and I still give a hard time about him opening for JB.

wow, I guess I figured with it being Texas that George would have been the big draw, and they'd have kept him for last.
I also would think they might have tried to set it up so people who didn't want to attend the whole thing wouldn't have to. And with that line of thought, I'd have put Jimmy and Alan next to each other.
I guess I'm glad I didn't have to organize the thing. Mr. Play would certainly have done a better job than me.

I'd say it was about 50/50 parrotheads to country fans. There were a lot of hardcore country fans in pressed jeans, long sleeve starched shirts and cowboy hats. It was hot that day, maybe 100 degrees, and they seemed to get a kick out of us. The concert was also right before License To Chill was released, and I think the release had a lot to do with the timing of the concert.

The only thing I remember about the whole show was the heat. I had floor seats and was melting. I would never go to another show at Texas Stadium and have floor seats in the summertime no matter who was playing. I finally moved up to the nose bleed seats and enjoyed some of the show. All in all the experience sucked.

Mr Play wrote:OK I mailed all of the shirts and wristbands from the self serve kiosk at the post office tonight. Frognot, nolestaylor, and phlip phlop repairman each have 7 shirts so I need to get special packaging for theirs tomorrow. The shirts are in white tyvex envelopes, wristbands are in manilla business sized envelopes, and the label will have your real name and aka screen name below that. If the mail runs on Saturday, the locals should start getting them then.
Awesome Bill!! All us Okies will be waiting, with baited breath, on the mailman, "Come Monday"

I make a motion that we have a "tip" jar at the TGP for additional donations. My Mom (and Lakebum's Grandma) is a breast cancer survivor, and I try to do something every year for our local folks. Is that be do-able, feasible and OK, Bill?

Vickster is bringing donation jars to put by the porta potties, and anything collected there will go to the charity. You can bring another jar or jars if you want, just put a sign that says donations will go to the charity. If you label it tips it might give the impression that I/we are keeping the money, which I refuse to do.
