I think we need to pick one city to have the "big" party and the second date to have a kick ass tailgate. IMO an argument can be made for both.
In the long run Dallas will be cheaper in terms of infrastructure- not having to rent the bar and parking lot. If we do so the plus is that we have a reserved space, a new city and a bar owner who wants to do anything to have us there.
Maybe we plan Hoot Island II and then I work something out with the bar/parking lot here that will not cost as much?
I just think most people will pick one or the other and if we plan 2 big parties we will short change both locations
I do think we need to decide ASAP so that the planning can take place so that out of towners get the best Buffett show of their lives

Welcome to BN!! Love your username!BuffettBuffet wrote:Pizza Hut Park is a pretty solid concert venue if you get on the "lawn" which unlike Smirnoff, will probably be a more expensive seat.
Still, its in a better neighborhood and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Im deciding on seeing Jimmy in Houston or Dallas and I have to think Dallas (Frisco) will be best just because I would never wanna see JB in the upper tank at a baseball stadium.
Do you guys have any tips for how to get tickets before they go on-sale? I know thats the last thing you want to read from someone making his first post on the board, but I've honestly been reading this website since I was in High School (1999) and would love to party with any of y'all that will be at the show in Frisco.

We also need to find out what the tailgate situation in Frisco will be, if they will allow a friday set up- IMO something we need and so forth. There are a few hotels around the park as well. If they will not allow us to do the 2 day thing I think we should focus on Houston for the blowout and Frisco for the tailgate

I do know that the roads/access in/out of the park sux for regular concerts when people are trying to all come/go at the same time.PHritz 01 wrote:We also need to find out what the tailgate situation in Frisco will be, if they will allow a friday set up- IMO something we need and so forth. Not sure about this show since pholks will be coming all day long, but I would guess that after the show when there is a (for the most part) mass exodus traffic will be terrible.
Good think parrotheads are willing to kick back and continue the phlocking.

I know that my thoughts regarding the RV tour were based upon it taking just over one week in time. My thought was that Houston would start it, April 21, then Dallas would come between that and New Orleans on April 28.sunseeker wrote:Phritz..a few people have mentioned the RV tour you suggested in the Houston thread....is that still a possibility? Not being from that part of the country I didn't know if it was....I think it was pharmgirl....
Now that Dallas is set for April 28, we know that Jimmy won't be at Jazzfest until May 5. That's a full two week span, which won't work for me. Of course to each his own, if that works for enough to get the RV tour going, then cool.....but I wonder how many people were hoping it might be April 21 through April 28??
As far as the One Large Party and One Tailgate, to avoid the attempt to have two huge gatherings....that sounds like a good plan. Though I don't know which I want to attend most?!?!?!

We need to get and idea of how many people and divide by 6 or 8. That will be how many RV's. It may be cheaper if I reserve them at the place in Dallas and we rent a van here since we will only be going 300 miles. Save on gas and miles. Aprox $1400.00 if we drive from here or $700.00 if we get them in Dallas. We can make a good week out of it.sunseeker wrote:Phritz..a few people have mentioned the RV tour you suggested in the Houston thread....is that still a possibility? People in Houston on Friday do the show Saturday, Play on the beach here and in Kemah until wednesday or thursday, caravan to Dallas, set up Friday, party Saturday. I think this schedule will just blow away last year regardless of where we plan the big party. There are a few of us here that people can stay with Sunday through when we leave for Dallas so we wont need hotels (air beds) and I'll take the week off to be your tour guide and rent a van to get everyone around
