American Idol

Post by Bob Roberts »

I can't believe nobody has posted an AI thread yet this year. I've looked everywhere, but can't find one. Sorry if I overlooked it, but I looked really well.

I don't know about you all, but I've become obsessed with Idol. I love it. Thank God for DVR, since I've not been at home the last couple of nights! I'm catching up right now. Here are my thoughts from the guys Tuesday night................

The positives...............

My boys Brandon and Chris both did well. I really like Chris's song and thought it fit his talents well. He's not the best singer, but he is unique. Brandon is in my opinion the most talented singer up there. He didn't really show it tonight, but he did well enough to move on.

I was most surprised with Blake Lewis. I'm not completely into the whole "beat-boxing" thing, but he really has a nice voice. He did the best at proving himself Tuesday.

The negatives...............

Sanjaya has no business being up there with those guys. His talent is very questionable. I was not impressed.

Phil Stacey made me wanna cry at the beginning of "I Could Not Ask For More". That is mine and Ashley's song and he absolutely butchered the beginning to the point it almost ruined the song for us. He finished well, which my be enough to keep him in, but it was bad!

I was not impressed with Nick Pedro. I don't think he's that great of a singer. He may be off after tonight.

I'm gonna beat Larry to the punch and just say it once:

It's a glorified karaoke contest.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Just finished catching up on last night's show in time to watch tonight's show. Here are my thoughts from last night............

The girls came out and made the guys look mediocre! I was very impressed with most of them for it to be the first night! The black girls definately showed up the white girls tonight. Wow! The audience and the judges definately dug the passion tonight!

Stephanie came out with a bang and set the bar early. I think the guys were a little surprised. She was great!

I thought Simon was wrong twice tonight. I thought Leslie did a very nice job, but he did'nt seem to think so. I was also impressed with Gina! That's the best she's done and I thought that she DID hit the note!

Melinda rocked the freakin' house! In my opinion she was the best and may just be this year's Idol champion!

Obviously, Lakisha was a favorite! Her passion was amazing!

Well, I think my wish will come true tonight. Antonella sucked it up last night and should already have her bags packed and waiting on her in the hallway outside! Good riddance!

Amy was very bland and not so good. Her performance may have been bad enough to send her home and leave Alaina there for another week.

Haley has a nice "Broadway-type" voice, but needs to be careful about her song selection. I wouldn't suggest another Celine Dion song.

Which Chris do you like? Chris Richardson or Chris Sligh (the one with the 'fro)? I am all about Chris Sligh b/c he's from Upstate SC, so I gotta pull for my local boy. 8)

As much as I like Chris, though.....I think a girl will win. The girls are hands down better then most of the guys. My fave girls are Jordin, Melinda and Lakesha (she was AWESOME last night) and I also liked Stephanie.

I'll not talk about tonight's results show for our left-coasters who haven't seen it yet.

That may be meant to be negative, but I've heard a few dynamite singers in karaoke, also on Idol

I think right now he's coasting by b/c people think he's cute and sweet. (with all that hair, he reminds me of some 1970s teen idol) But I don't see him lasting too much longer.

I was hoping Antonella would be gone last night. She didn't sing well at all.....I also think she's getting by on looks more than talent at this point.

Fox has pulled off one of the biggest scams in the histry of television by getting so many people to give a s*** about this show.
