I give up trying to predict this year.
But my feelings and thoughts...
Melinda - Reminded me of a James Bond song. I enjoyed it.
Lakisha - Fun, not WOW, but good.
Chris - Uh, no. Not for me. Too many 'off' notes, and the music drowned him out.
Haley - Lots of energy, very good, then too many whooo hooo's at the end. I think Simon got this one right.
Phil - Lose the hats. Didn't do much for me.
Jordin - Really liked her energy and fun. She's so cute, and has a strong voice.
Blake - Again - I was distracted by his hat, but I liked his singing!
Sanjaya. Well, his hair was better, and the singing wasn't as hideous as other performances.
Jennifer Lopez - I have always liked her. She's cute, and had some good advice for everyone.

Boy, I really agree with you regarding Phil and his hats. They are distracting and he doesn't wear them well.
Lakisha has really lost something in her song singing.

What is the deal with Chris Richardson? Every week, the judges praise him like he's the best. I don't think he's that good. I've not heard him sing a song that I've thought was that good the whole competition. Of course I'm no NSync, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, boy band goober, but vocal talent is not necessarily an opinion. I have a college degree in music and can clearly see that Chris is not on the vocal talent level that Melinda, Jordin, and Lakeisha are on. I thought it was interesting to see him in the bottom 3 this week after the judges have worshiped him every week.
And what the heck is Simon's hang-up about Cabaret singing?

i hope they charge you per vote!!!
Join the movement!
If he wins...i want to see you buy his CD....wear a Sanjaya concert shirt to Gillette on the 2nd and i want to see that you bought tickets for his 1st show.....and he should get you back stage and get a picture with him!!!
It's not too late to join us!
Never!!!!!!!.....and i can't watch now that Haley is gone......she was pretty good on the eyes!!!...Had a feeling it was going to be a female this week!!.....Next week Country with Martina.

I think the country week should be very interesting. From what I can tell, none of them have any country background.
Should shake things up a bit.
I guess my prediction was correct, but I would rather have seen Phil go than Haley this time.

news flash....
Haley leaves today for an extended USO tour in Irag and Afganistan to thanks the troops who managed to keep her on the show long after her talent did....

I have some family down in Phoenix that are good friends with Jordin and her family. From what they have told me, Country is a genre that she absolutely loves and excels in. Here's hoping they're right.
With Martina McBride being the "coach" next week...do you think someone will sing her song
Broken Wing

If the baby does Broken Wing ... it's all over ... I think she's the cream of the crop this year ... such a presence about her ... and such a set of pipes.

Last year, my sis and I were so into this whole AI thing as we both loved Taylor Hicks and voted like crazy. This season just doesn't do it for me.

I was curious because I have a theory (and it does not necessarily apply to you and your sister) that most of the people that vote aren't music consumers. People that watch the show may listen to a lot of music via radio, online streaming, etc, and watch music performances but don't necessarily buy albums. That's got to be
areason why Taylor won and hasn't sold many albums, yet Chris came in 4th and is slaying the charts. Hell, even Elliott Yamin debuted at #3 last week (dropped to 28th this week) which is way better than Taylor. It's also the reason that I make an issue of wide spread commercial appeal of contestants. I mean, Melinda is hella good, but she's not going to sell albums to a wide audience. I think Jordin has a MUCH better chance of that... essentially Jordin's a lot more like the Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood type than Melinda is. I don't think Melinda's going to have enough of a personality to sell albums as well. I think Blake has a lot more commercial appeal too because he's young & contemporary. (I mean, Melinda has not performed one song that was popular within the last 20 years!)
eh, enough rambling...

I understand your point, but totally disagree. I will be the first to buy Melinda's album after she wins Idol.

And see... I won't. I think you're in the vast minority of people that are voting for Melinda yet will follow through and buy her album. I'm a mass consumer of contemporary music & I have Chris' album and I've downloaded a few songs off Elliott's album. Both because they have such a broader range and appeal. They are multi-dimensional... which Taylor, Fantasia, Bo, Diana, Ruben & I believe Melinda aren't. Jordin's going to make fun pop songs that resonate with an older and younger audience... Melinda's just going to make songs that appeal to her own demographic... but that demographic won't necessarily purchase albums. Granted, this is all just my opinion and I will gladly be proven wrong, but I'm pretty sure about this after watching all these seasons of Idol.

i think ann's analysis is pretty good, but it was interesting that the simon cowell interview on 60 minutes stated that simon has sold more american idol albums that springsteen has.
don't know who has bought the 100 million plus AI albums by that's a lot of albums....
melinda has the best voice by far but if she doesn't get more contemporary and appeal to the hipper audience, she's not gonna make the finals.

I don't know about 100 million, unless he means the whole international idol franchise and international sales- I'd say it's more like 30 million US albums sold- with Kelly Clarkson & Carrie Underwood leading the pack.
