I wish they'd set up a phone line to vote AGAINST Sanjaya. I don't care who wins as long as it's not him.

You called it tonight!
Good job :D
Wasn't she just amazing? She's 17. San*jerkoff*ya is 17. I think it was a stroke of programming genius to put them back to back. He can't even wipe her shoes ... he wants to wear them, but he's not worthy. :D

I hate the show but I just voted 10 times for Sanjaya, I don't watch American Idol so I have no idea what he sang or how he sounded today. I got the number from www.votefortheworst.com

The longer he stays the more controversy it brings and who doesn't love good fun controversy on TV :D

Besides it also makes Howard Stern's Thursday morning show that much better

I have to admit, I havent read every post in this thread, so I may be saying what has already been said, but I think they will have to change the rules of AI after this year. That "vote for the worst" thing is ruining the show.
I lost confidence in the show when Chris Daughtry left too early last year.
I wish you could vote someone out.
I am still waiting for JB week though. I want to see an entire show of Buffett songs..maybe we could start the emails to AI requesting that.
But then again, there would be someone like that sanjaya kid that would make me want to jump through the tv and beat him with a palm branch. :pirate:

Here's what I sent into the newspaper for tomorrow's edition. There are about 6 of us who comment each week. We comment and pick the best, the worst, who should go and who will go ...

It's in WHITE so as not to spoil anything ....

This season of American Idol has taught us a lot. We've learned the fine art of hairstyling and how to talk smack from Sanjaya. We've learned that you don't need a good voice to make the finals -just remove one piece of clothing each week until they have to vote you off for decency's sake, a la Hayley. They say repetition is a great way to learn. Just by watching Melinda -- week after week after week --we've learned how to look like a deer in the headlights. We've learned how creepy a unibrow can look on a bald man. We've learned how to completely lose our way, as so aptly demonstrated again this week by Lakisha.

We've also learned that age has nothing to do with ability, heart and charisma, a lesson repeated by the show's baby girl every time she steps up to the microphone.

Now, this week, we got a lesson in vocal performance from Mr. Singing-Through-My-Sinus-Cavity Chris. When Simon said the performance was tinny and nasally, Chris said, "Nasally is a form of singing."

Now, I get it. This boy really thinks he can sing. Bless his achy, breaky, whiny heart. The thud you heard after he made this startling revelation was voice coaches all over the world falling over in a dead faint.

This week, we also learned the importance of contrasts. Whoever made the decision to put Jordin and Sanjaya back-to-back is a genius. Finally, America got the chance to see the difference in these two kids. She's a diva, with the goods to back it up. He's a ditz, with nothing but hot, flat air coming out his mouth. She's a contender. He's a wannabe. She delivers. He panders. She's a class act. He's a crass act.

Sanjaya needs to go. Keeping him will only encourage the madness. Keeping him will reduce American Idol to a meaningless circus. Oh, wait. Too late.

Best - Jordin
Worst - Sanjaya
Who should go - Sanjaya
Who will go - Lakisha

I love the idea of posting in white to give left coasters time to watch the episode..great idea!
I think you were pretty much on target with all points.
now for my view on this weeks show:
I think I actually said "WHAT?" and then laughed hysterically when Chris made his comment. It was the funniest rationalisation for bad singing I had ever heard. When Simon questioned him to verified what he had just heard, it was even funnier
Voice coaches falling over= too funny.

Sanjaya was HORRIBLE! He murdered a Bonnie Raitt song.... I had to turn him off! Jordin was phenomenal! OMG.

Thank you, Tom. :)

Phil - Yeah, he was alright. Then went to 'good'.

Jordin - Good. Missed a note or two, but I enjoyed.

Sanjaya. WTF with the bandana? And his singing wasn't. :-?

Lakisha - Still love her voice.

Chris - bad, bad, and bad.

Melinda - WOW. I just love her voice, even if she's not an album seller

Blake - Eh. Didn't do it for me.

I think the fix is in this week and Sanjaya will get kicked off by that little producers rule..........I got through at least 50 times tonight without hardly any busy signals, last week it was tough to get through, even as the voting was ending.

Votefortheworst.com, is the whole problem with society today. I know it's just a big joke, but why do we today go for the "bad" guy. William Heung, nice guy, great attitude. But should he have gotten a deal to record an album? Absolutely not.

Even if it is a joke, it takes away from the people with real talent, even specifically in the joke gener, i.e. Weird Al, Cletus T. Judd, etc.

Being famous now just because your famous is ruining this world. Music is supposed to able to convey emotions, movies are supposed to entertain us, and news is supposed to inform us.

Today none of these things do what they're supposed to do.

No one in Hollywood seems smart to make anything new, unless it's just some gore filled POS "horror" movie.

The news, it runs a story into the ground, Michael Jackson, Natalie Holloway, Hurricane Katrina, Anna Nicole, Imus. It's just the same BS day in and day out.

Music for the most part is completely garbage, not including the older artists that still make music that means something.

Sorry for the rant. :pirate:

I don't watch the show but from what I understand up until a certain point the 3 judges decided who stays and who goes then when it is down to the top 15 or 20 the voting get turned over to the public. Evey year I see and read about these American Idol auditions all over the country which bring in over 15,000 people to try out at each city. If they do auditions in 5 or 6 cities that would mean over 50,000 people tried out for the show, in the end after all those tryouts, if the show has any integrity the 3 judges will send the best 15-20 singers from the 50,000 who tried out to the final public vote. The 3 judges must have determined that Sanjaya was one of the top 20 singers, if not why would he have made it that far! If he is that bad then why was he sent to the final group which the public votes for? It's probably because they figured he would become a hot topic for a week, a ratings boost, a parody of himself, it would give something for people to talk about and make fun of for a few days then he would be gone, they never figured he would last this long. They took a gamble that is not paying off yet.

Stern is fantastic on satellite. I think the whole vote for Sanjaya thing is too funny. What I find even more hilarious are adults that get so upset over it.
