Phillips-
-In the city with no central parking/party area
Larger venue that is a stadium, not an amphitheater
Higher cost to attend when you include parking and etc.
Enclosed venue with marginal accoustics (even though Phillips got
good ratings in a recent pole.
Lakewood-
- Outside where coastal, Gulf, Carribean, country, rock-n- roll party type music should be played
Large parking lot where the party starts
Amphitheater type venue
Yes, it can rain and it does turn to mud on the lawn but in the
last six years it has only really rained once, OK twice.

That's my point exactly!! I love HiFi, definitly more appropriate for Buffett!! Plus at Phillips there no where good to tailgate!! I agree also that he's not going to fly into Atlanta on a Wednesday night while he's in between shows in Texas........I won't believe it til it happens!!spucketts wrote:Phillips--In the city with no central parking/party area

If there are no Carolina shows, I'll be back at Lakewood again. However, as long as there is (PLEASE, Lord) a Charlotte, or Columbia tour stop to choose from, then I will have been to that armpit (Lakewood / Hi Fi Buys) for the last time. It has nothing to do with the rain, we were in the pavillion last year. I'm just on the "wrong" side of Atlanta for getting to that place.
I live in a tiny little town way north of the perimeter, have cows (literally) for neighbors through the woods in my backyard. I can still be in my seat in the Fox in one hour. But Lakewood is a disaster traffic-wise. You're either driving through a war zone and sticking your car somewhere it may or may not be when you come out or doing the train to bus transfer on Marta. Of course, we took Marta from our hotel shuttle and there was a disabled train last year. We camped out at each stop 5-10 minutes all the way down! Then the joy of the bus ... Just Loverly!!!
Also the show in Charlotte last year was in the pouring down rain as well, but it included several more songs. I've been seeing Bubba in Atlanta for 17 years, and seen several shows in NC, and SC and one in AL, but it just seems like he's not having as much fun in Atlanta anymore. Just MHO.

Hey Meg and Ragtop,
Been off the board for a few days ... sending PM's ...
My hubby and I had a conversation yesterday about ATL shows ... remember the year JB played at Tech and they closed the bridge over to the Varsity for foot traffic??
Anyway, why don't they do it right and just have him play to a sold out Sanford Stadium? There's plenty of parking, Athens is used to 100,000 drunks, and it would certainly make up for Jimmy's having played to 5 people in Brooks Hall way way back in the day.
To quote an old southern hymn, What a day, glorious day that would be!

If JB played...
Sanford Stadium, my friend, I would have the throwdown of all throwdowns at our usual football tailgate spot. I could die and be happy after that.

I just don't see UGA opening any place on their campus to a former Auburn student. I guess there is a better chance of him playing in Athens than in Tuscaloosa though. *grin*LivingOutMy2ndChance wrote:Anyway, why don't they do it right and just have him play to a sold out Sanford Stadium? I don't have the info. on the Tuscaloosa concert (what a great place to play football by the way), but I do think UGA people have warm fuzzy places in their hearts for some Auburn folks ... like Vince Dooley and Bubba. Likewise, most AU fans (myself still included) love one special UGA grad, Pat Dye. Those were the days!
