I saw rows and rows of empty seats at Jimmy's "sold-out" show at Nissan on Saturday, June 17th. Why? Because they were in the hands of ticket brokers who got them from "insiders". I've seen similar rows of empty seats the last 4 years at "sold-out" Merriweather shows. Is the ticket distribution system corrupt or what?

Jim:
If the tickets to those empty seats were actually in the hands of brokers I hope they got stuck with them. The prices being asked by brokers for Saturday's Nissan show were obscene. If more brokers got stuck with tickets maybe they would think twice about investing so heavily. Then again, they are the lowest of the low.

Jim Thomas,
How I would like to believe that every last scalper got what he deserved, but in all fairness and reality, it probably was a combination of the rain and the traffic on Wellington Rd where people sat in their cars for 2 hours to go 1 lousey mile. Why? Because they didn't open the lots until 3pm.

saw the same "empty seat phenomenon" at the thursday pittsburgh show...we were in row 13, and the 2 seats to our left were empty as were about 6 seats to our right...noticed the same sporadic emptiness in a few rows in front and behind...i hope the brokers choked on 'em, but they probably make these losses up in the extra $$$ they get for the ones they DO sell...

I agree in hoping that somebody, somewhere gets soaked for that, but the real heartbreak is being a parrothead who would kill to see the summer show & knowing that there are corporate you-know-what's who are wasting perfectly good tickets when they would happily be purchased (at face value, of course) by fans who deserve to go.
I've always been a lawn person, so don't know about the pavilion seats: is this phenomenon new this year with the Seagram's sponsorship?

can't blame the empty rows of seats on the bad weather when the seats are all under cover. We are talking rows & rows with 10 or more seats together without a single behind in them. I've seen the same at both Nissan and Merriweather the last 3-5 years when the weather was great. Somehow the professionals are buying seats in large groups to resell. If the brokers were buying seats from individuals the seats would be more scattered. Perhaps Jimmy can explain this "phenomenom" for us.
