Do You Think There are Going to Be More Dates Announced?

Post by MargaritaMatt »

With Jimmy running the limited tour schedules the last few years, and hearing this year is going to be another "limited" year. Do you think we will see another set of dates announced? By looking at the tour date list now, I would have to say no. He has 3 April shows, 3 June shows, 4 July shows, 2 September shows. I am thinking that is it, except for the usual October Vegas date.

I miss when we got the big summer tours. I know Jimmy is getting older and so are the Coral Reefers, but I hope we get another big summer tour in the next couple years. I really miss going to see him a couple times a summer and listening to shows on RM almost every week throughout the summer.

33 shows last year. That was down from the 34 he played the year before.

Of course there will be more dates. Perhaps not in the summer . . . he always plays out west in California. He will be playing Hawaii this year. He will be doing a show or two in Vegas. He will be playing Mohegan Sun. He said he would play Jones Beach . . . we will see on that one. I bet he plays some small shows at a Margaritaville or two . . . hope to see him on island out here . . . so, yeah, more shows will be coming.

Everyone around here who claims they know their s*** still say to plan on a 3rd Gilette show. I personally won't hold my breath and if there was a 3rd show I doubt I would go as I am already going to the other two - but I think it would be awesome if he did.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

I guess I should rephrase that and not say limited. I should say limited for me in the Midwest. We only had 1 date in Ohio, PA, and Indiana. When he usually hit Pittsburgh twice, at least two Ohio dates, and one Indiana date.

There just seems to be a lot of gimmicky stuff going on recently. A small venue here, a private party there, a few stadiums, and stuff like that. I guess when I really came into loving Jimmy it was in the late 90's and early 00's and he was having a lot of date in my area at outdoor amphitheaters on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for most of the summer months.

So, I guess my "limited" statement was regarding this year and also a selfish statement because his touring now isn't what I expect out of Jimmy touring. [/u]

last spring i went through the past tour schedules and at the time he had played 33 dates every year for the past 6 years....

the 33 date schedule started when he announced he was taking more time off in the summer to be with his family.

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

If I was 60 years old and had as much money as he has, instead of doing 33 shows each of the last 6 years I be retired and sipping frosty adult beverages.

Back to my actual question, do you think we are going to see more dates announced? Do you think they will be for the summer or fall or when?

in all seriousness, don't you think that he still likes to hear the roar of the crowd and get his needs met by 10's of thousands of fans? I think that I would like that 15 - 20 times a year just for shits and giggles.

I don't doubt that's why he's still out there. I was just saying what I'd do if I were in his shoes.

um, he doesn't wear shoes usually when he performs. I have one of his sandals from Fenway - I will let you borrow it to see what you would really do in his shoes . . . I checked the mail once wearing it. It felt good.
