Jimmy Buffett songs at my wedding reception...

Post by bryan_05 »

Can you fellow parrotheads recommend some Jimmy Buffett songs for my wedding reception.

So far I can only think of two.

Come Monday (slow dance)
Fins (because I love it)

I have all his CDs  so finding them won't be a problem. Thanks in advance

Fins up!

Anything, Anytime, Anywhere has my vote for romantic [smilie=hearts.gif] wedding reception song.

And I guarantee you'll get WDWGDAS suggested multiple times...

No Buffett.

Instead play the tunes that inspired him.

Make sure your DJ knows when you want what played! When my daughter got married, she requested Buffett music be played during the cocktail hour. Instead, he played it during dinner. There I am sitting next to the priest and WDWGDAS starts to play.   :x  3 chords and I'm making a b-line for the DJ's throat! Just a little advice. . . :wench:

Little Miss Magic

At our daughter's wedding, my husband and daughter had the floor to themselves. Little Miss Magic had always been his song for her. My son and I stood on the edge of the dance floor and hugged as we watched them dance. There wasn't a dry eye in the place!

Stars Fell on Alabama

Survive

There are just so many. It depends on the crowd. When our family gets together, all Buffett songs work just great, but others may not "get it."

And....when hiring the DJ, make sure they are willing to do what you want.

We have a DJ company in town that my wife has had the misfortune of working many weddings with (she's a photographer)....they say "WE run the show. Not the bride. We've done this before, so we don't care what she says."

That was going to be my suggestion.

I have heard WDWGDAS at receptions before. Not tasteful, but appropriate.

Maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do, it's the child in us we really value.
