LMS rolls the window down a crack and the guy hands him the paper and cheerily says:
"HERE YA GO PARROTHEAD!" and ran back to his car. I thought it was worth sharing.
Here is what he wrote:
"The Parrothead
Found between the age of five years old and seventy years young, with a pleasant disposition for harmless chaos and visions of beaches, bars, boats and ballads; defining an Eden for half baked fruitcakes, tourists and dreamers.
The school teacher; sweet, innocent and caring, and living on flashbacks of Key West and New Orleans, with sympathy for the crazy woman on Caroline street.
The suburban teen who finds that Caribbean rhythms, gospel vocals, and stories of erupting volcanoes, old sailors and wind blown palm trees is far more inviting than "Radio Rock".
The hard working father of three reasons to care; who has little miss magic and understands why Delaney talks to statues; who never regrets the commitments and responsibilities cast upon him by unforseen fate; and harbors an annual summer day in his favorite floral shirt, prepared with pitchers of margarita?s in the back of the family trooper and a smiling wife to share a blanket at the Jimmy Buffett concert.
The Deadhead who honors a crowd of yuppies in need of carnival;
The old cheerleader squatting in the grass;
The goofy blonde strangers in skirts of grass;
The escaped, mid forties, moms and dads rolling grass.
Thousands upon thousands of court jester understudies hailing to the Lings Minstrel in dance and repute. The Parrot-Head, one and all, conjure and revel in a fantasy island of stories and indulgence found only between the Coast of Moderation and the Sea of Excess.
By a Parrothead named John"

As Maria and I entered in Scott caught my eye and motioned for us toward the center bar at the Bahama Breeze.
The door closed behind us in an instant we were back in Nassau it seemed.
"Boat Drinks" began playing on the Muzak. I then saw Elissa, Mary, her friend Vicki and the gal I knew just had to be Dori. Phil and his enduring grin, Lauren and her perfect hug embraced me and then Maria. A quick delivery of a firm handshake from the Gingerbread man himself. Dave then introduce us to Janice. The party was in it's early stages and more excitement was in the cards, I could just fell it in the changing winds that moved in from the deck.
Just as this thought crossed my mind the front door opened, Jason and Maria enterd in and had made our phlocking complete........or so I thought.
We talked and caught up on where these past ten months had taken us all. Maria purposely held off her early evening medication to order a Pina Colada. The only drink that was mild enough to not send her packing too soon.
I took myself back to Nassau and ordered a Bahama Mama just because. Phil, Scott and I chated about disand dat and things were really looking good all around.
Just as I had finished my drink a man tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Sir I have a special delivery of two Rum Swizzles with a note attached."
My first thought was that the group had ordered one for Maria and me and were going to do a toast or something.
I opened the napkin and this is what it said........"Wanted to delivertwo rum swizzles to you in person this time -They can't "dispense" such medicine - Hope this will be o.k.
Look across the bar - "
My heart started beating faster at the thought of who this could be. I looked up and the world seemed to have stopped. I could hear nothing and tunnel vision had set in. There directly across from us was BG!!
The only words that came forth (repeatidly) were, "OH MY GOD, IT'S BG!!"
I darted across, began crying (not at all ashamed to admit it) and hugged her.
She talked, I listened. She talked, I stuttered. She said, "Go get Maria."
My only response, "Huh, who, what,YOU'RE HERE!!!!"
I ran out to the deckside bar, found Maria and Dori. We ran back in and finally they met. Priceless moment!!
This night was magical from start to finish. I even got to talk to Tikibar on BG's cell!!
For all who were there and for those who were there in spirit we thank you!!
This is far more than a "discussion or chat board" it is a family, a network, a hospital of sorts. Made up of people that not only "get it" but live it!!
We love you all and look forward to doing it all over again!!

A couple of weeks ago I posted a picture of my grandfather who was in the Army Air Corps with Jimmy Stewart, as his commanding officer.
Albatross Flyer (Charlie) asked me if I had a copy of Jimmy's book, "Jimmy Stewart Bomber Pilot". I said, no I didn't. Lo and behold, the book was in my mailbox today from Charlie.
Tears were flowing, as I saw, in fact, my grandfathers face in this book.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Charlie.

It's the bottom picture.
Jimmy Stewart is top row, left.
My grandfather, Kermit Moon, is the bottom row, second from left.He was with the crews who flew one of the first bombing missions over Berlin in WWII. He was in the gunnery bubble under the B-24.

SWIZZLES FOR BREAKFAST!!!!!
Hello to all!!
Since Thursday of last week I've spent some time settling in at home.
Part of this time has been spent looking over the pages of postings from everyone wheter it was here on this thread or any other.
I am so thankful for your this group!
You have proven to our family that not only is this "phin power" thing awesome but it is the people behind it all that are truly special.
Cindi, thank you so much for thinking of me every day!!
Those special deliveries really came in handy!!
Thank you for taking the time to start this thread!!
I am feeling GREAT!!
So far three return trips to UNC for checkups have produced excellent results from all tests. The road to recovery still has some miles to be traveled but I'm confident in what's ahead.
Everyday I thank God almighty for you all!!
With much love, Maria

Hey there pholks!!
Another weekend, another reason to "swizzle"
It's astonishing how well Maria has done since coming home last Thursday.
She's getting around so well!!
Heck, she's even gotten on here to "swizzle" herself around some threads!!
Hopefully soon enough, she'll be able to get on regularly with her own sig.
A follow up bone marrow test was done yesterday afternoon. It's routine for them to check her system just to make sure nothing funky is going on in there.
We expect nothing but good reports from it!!
So please keep your phins pholded.
Reports due in Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
Until then...............LET'S SWIZZLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
got to stop wishin' got to start fishin'....

A little story about Jimmy Stewart from my family. My uncle is a huge Jimmy Stewart fan (his hometown is 45 min from ours in PA). My grandfather didn't care for Jimmy Stewart. In April 2002 my pappap died of bone cancer. My uncle asked my grandma if she had a bell. She wondered "what in the hell he wanted a bell for." Well, my uncle did the eulogy. In the closing he mentioned about how my grandfather did not care for Jimmy Stewart and told the story of borrowing the bell from my grandma. Well, my uncle pulled the bell out and rang the bell ("every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings) in reference to the movie "It's a Wonderful Life." I miss my pappap more than anyone else in this world and I am teared up right now typing this.

I had just lost my Daddy in March 2002, but we went to the Dallas show in April 2002....Larry bought the tickets while I was still staying with my Mother.
The show was incredible---what JB show isn't and I could finally forget my sorrows for awhile.
The next to last encore was Lovely Cruise.
Everyone around us was singing and enjoying the song, but I was standing there sobbing. I guess it finally hit me that Daddy was gone. I had cried before, but this was different.
When we got home, I posted about crying during the song and I was still a newbie---if you go to the set list, I had just hit 200 posts.
About the next person to post was Amy Lee. She explained she had requested Jimmy play Steamer for Pam, The Volcano Lady, who was dying. Jimmy couldn't play Steamer, but he played Lovely Cruise.
I wasn't the only one crying, Amy said she was too while she was playing because she knew it was being played for Pam and they were good friends. I think it was later that week, that Pam died, and Amy played at her funeral.
And I got my first PM from FreddyFishStick....I was such a newbie, I didn't know what a PM was. LOL
Freddy was telling me he had just lost his Dad and if I ever needed to talk, he was there for me.
Just when I needed people, total strangers were there for me.
Thank you, BuffettNews for helping me get through an awful time in my life.
Oh man gosh ( as my 4yr old says) - I didnt realize that was your first pm.
My first BN post was on a thread for Dally- it was a post about her dad passing away. I left a message of sympathy and understanding, because my dad died the day before hers did. She sent me a pm and I, like you Molly, had not yet recieved one. Kind of a weird thing the first time you get one. It was the nicest PM from the sweetest girl offering her sympathy and understanding to me in return. Jamie seemed to understand what I was going through more than anyone else in my life. We helped each other survive in the months ahead, both of us active posters at the time. She will always have a fond place in my heart. The months that followed my dads death were some of the toughest in my entire life. But BN helped, I made many friends that will last a lifetime, we all become so connected- people you never met were near best friends. Then the phlockings just made it all the better. There is nothing like flying somewhere, calling on the cell phone and Cuervo is giving you directions to a bar in Ft Liquordale! Or walking down Duval Street late at night with SGH. Or partying with Penny, phaw, HS, at the Denver preparty. I showed up in Vegas one weekend to be greated by CRC with a big hug, and Zeroduval, Kitty, Phins1026, and about forty others LOL. Parrotsgirl, she really helped me through some late nights, waiting for Cameron to be born. My keets got gifts from several BN'rs and so have I.
It's hard to find the words that can say thanks enough for what BN has done for me. It is an easy place to come back home to, even though I dont have time to post much, you are always there, when I just need to come and lurk to check on everybody or like today I needed some help with decorating my coffee house tropical. Within minutes I had several good ideas.
I do miss it, it is addictive, as we say, for a reason. Its great people doing great things for each other. Its the best people doing the most wonderful things for each other. You know we really need more of that in this world.
