So I was dumb and bought an E-Ticket from someone
My subject line pretty much sums it up. I was only able to purchase one ticket to the Indy show (I didn't understand how ticketmaster worked) online. For some reason I was all excited and decided I needed another ticket immediatley instead of just waiting to see what came up on Ebay. So, I purchased an e-ticket from a gentleman on this forum who I believe had no prior postings.
I have no reason to believe he is scamming me. I actually agreed to take the e-ticket as opposed to a hard ticket so I could receive the ticket faster. But now I read the thread about the e-ticket vs the hard ticket and I'm all concerned. I'm assuming there is no way to "verify" that I'm the sole owner of this particular e-ticket and this guy could sold ten copies of it.
So I have two questions for the regulars:
1.) If I try to use the ticket as soon as the doors open and I'm one of the first in line, it won't matter if I got scammed correct? I know this sounds horrible.
2.) For those who have been to prior Indy shows, how easy is it to buy a ticket from someone with extra tickets who is tailgating right before the show?
Regardless of how this turns out, I am very excited about this show as it will be my first Buffett concert as I am a recent convert to his music. Can't wait to have a great time with all the parrotheads.

I've sold four tickets that were E Tickets - was thankful that the people trusted me and everyone was a winner

Did they ask if you were ok with an e-ticket or have it in the ad that it was one? If they did, then they're likely not trying to scam you.
Also, in previous years (I've only missed 2 Indy shows since 1996), there were tickets all over the place in the lot.

Yes, he did ask if I was ok with it. I think I'm just being paranoid. I'm sure everything will work out fine. I mainly just wanted to make sure I would have the opportunity to buy a ticket at the show if the worst were to happen.
Thanks for your help.

That is correct, first one with the ticket gets in. If he scammed you it would be likely that he scammed others as well. In that case the first one is the only one who gets in.FerretHead wrote: So I have two questions for the regulars:

And the reality is that even if you got a hard ticket it could be no good. Bought 4 to a concert last year (JB @ MSG) and seller told Ticketmaster he had not gotten the tickets and they issued etickets which voided the hard tickets I had. No more EBAY as they and PAYPAL were useless in trying to straighten this out!

I've never seen a Buffett show that allowed re-entry....chippewa wrote:Check with the venue's re-entry policy, too. You might be able to get in right when the gates open, then get a hand-stamp or whatever allows you back in. That way you wouldn't have to wander in an empty venue for two hours.
I think most places DON'T, but it's something to check out.

ditto here. have both bought and sold e-tickets on BN without a problem.ToplessRideFL wrote:I wanted to add... I have sold e-tickets and I bought etickets for Buffett a few years ago from a seller... no problems.
Hopefully your seller is honest... I believe most people really are.

MOST people are honest, even on eBay. There are some scams, but I'd say it works at least 90% of the time. I've bought tickets, including a 7th row ticket for Santa Barbara last year, through eBay and never had a problem.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:ditto here. have both bought and sold e-tickets on BN without a problem.ToplessRideFL wrote:I wanted to add... I'd rather live my life having faith in people, and get screwed occasionally, than be paranoid all the time.

I bought a bunch of tickets for the last Tampa concert from various scalper websites.
When I realized only one (which was mine!!) was an eticket, I got a little nervous about getting into the concert. I did not want to be the one sent away at the gate!
I decided to purchase a lawn ticket as insurance figuring that at least I could get in with my hard ticket if the eticket didn't work. I'm not sure what I would've done if other people showed up at my seat!!
Anyway, all the tickets worked and I realized I was being paranoid! I think most people are honest.
Luckily, I took another friend along who could use my lawn seat! Everyone was happy!

We got stuck for about $600 once buying hard tickets in NYC for an NCAA Final 4 game. It was a hard lesson.
That said, I bought a tkt on StubHub today, P4 for Camden. When the description said "TicketFast" I called StubHub and they verified it was from a seller that has been registered and doing business with them for 4+ years without complaint.
That said, I hope I don't have a problem or I will be broken hearted.

Bought a couple of e-tickets a few years ago on the exchange. Sweated it out the whole time until I got through the gate and it scanned OK. Of course, I made sure I was almost first in line at the e-ticket entrance.
That was one good thing about the e-tickets, they had a seperate entrance just for them.

E TICKET
I am sure by now you have found out if your ticket is good or not. What I found out with the e-tickets (from experience) is: if it is a ticket for a seat, the first scanned gets in first, but if the next person comes along and claims it is theirs and can produce the credit card the ticket was paid for with, they get the seat.
