Killed earlier today in a car crash in Menlo Park California.

Sad news. *sigh* Death of an inspiring journalist/author is always so sad to me. I was fortunate enough to hear him speak on WVU's campus in '01. Very inspiring to me.

Great writer and correspondent. I loved The Best and the Brightest.
He will be missed.

I went to school with one of his nephews. The poor kid's father, a renowned cardiologist, was shot and killed by a burglar in 1980.
