LivingOutMy2ndChance wrote:I think any "boos" people may have heard after On the Road Again were definitely about the sound. It was AWFUL. We weren't on the floor, but had $138 seats and, honestly, if I hadn't read the TX setlist, I wouldn't have known what he was playing. And the guys working those big electronic sound thingys were definitely scrambling to fix it.
I had the $138 seats as well, section 110. I've been to several concerts and Philips, but never been head-on to the stage like that, and I was scared that being right in line with the speakers was distorting the sound. I could make out the song, but it would have been an unpleasant evening had the sound stayed that way. Thankfully it got fixed. One other sound related issue I seemed to notice was that, to my ear, it seemed like every now and then Jimmy's center stage mic wasn't working if he was talking into the side of it. Maybe I'm just going deaf.

But the show was great. There were a couple of times I had to just stop and look up and around behind me and off to the side to see all the people and all the flashing lights, etc.

That must have been the only security guard saying that as people were taking down the signs and those tequila strings right in front of the security we had. :D

We had tickets behind the stage, and I was expecting it to be bad, but he turned around alot and definitely got us into it. He seemed to have alot of energy on stage, in a venue that most people were not looking forward to. As for the setlist, I was glad to see "Why Don't We Get Drunk And Screw" off the list, and I thought all of the new CD was well-played, however I would have liked to hear Regabilly Hill. "Tonight I Just Need My Guitar" was an amazing end to the show. I'm looking forward to Jimmy coming back to Hifi Buys next year and maybe for a couple days.

Those are some of my favorite people right there.

I don't think I need to say anything else.

Their family members outside of that are awesome as well.

Will show my love later.

That is so great, Keith!!

I also noticed when he was talking about the concert in Anguilla and that some people had been there, he seemed to be gesturing to a certain spot in the audience ... you???

Congrats again!

I sat (OK, stood) behind the stage and high up in Philips Arena, and I thought the sound was fine after the first song. I couldn't even tell what the song was at the time. Then again, I had a lot of rum and tequila in "The Gulch" where so many of us were tailgating. I prefer it be an outdoor show at Hi-Fi, but the folks tailgating at "The Gulch" definitely made the most of it. Had a blast.

I had a wonderful time. This year I wasn't rained on and that made it much better. The club seating is the way to go. Excellent show!! [smilie=coolup.gif]

So...I didnt make it to the tailgates till around 1:30, I had classes at AU that morning and drove up afterwards. I was a little dissapointed with the tailgates at first, especially since last year at HIFI was so amazing, but they got better and better as the day (and the drinking) progressed. John and his giant speakers made my day, especially since he had every Buffett song on his computer. I was happy to meet new Parrotheads and see old ones. There is one thing that I love about tailgating for Buffett that is unlike any other and that is the fact that everyone there is your best friend. As far as the concert goes, I thought it was amazing. The set list was perfect, especially the ending (Tonight I Just Need My Guitar). I had tears in my eyes! Ive been to other concerts in Phillips Arena, but none came close. I was amazed at all the people there, I guess since they had seats behind the stage it just seemed to be packed. But this was a "good" packed, I love seeing so many people enjoying what I enjoy most. Here is a great picture showing the crowd:

Im only 22 years old and have really only been listening to Buffett since I was 17. I still to this day do not know how I lived for so long without him.

Glad to hear they solved the sound problem. I was on my dinner break, listening to RM and only heard (sort of) "On the Road Again...." Really weird..... And worse, had to go back to work after that....

Just learned tonight that a woman I know who, unfortunately, has a very unfavorable prognosis for her illness, was able to make that show, and her whole family, including her small children who wanted to know who this Jimmy Buffett was, attended.... I truly hope it was one of his best.....

And if you want to be nice, say a prayer for Nancy.... She's the real deal when it comes to parrotheads.....

Thank you.
