I compiled a list of the original versions of the TTWWY songs that Jimmy didn't write for someone and I thought I would share them with my BN phriends. Most of these are just links to the amazon.com audio samples, but there is the full version of Duke's in there. Enjoy! [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Neat links, thanks.

I've been meaning to make a cd of a lot of original versions of Jimmy's covers. Maybe this will get me started. :D

It's a little depressing to see just how few originals JB's doing these days...

Yeah but at least Jimmy is still doing what he's always done - performing live and making records.

I just popped back to this topic and tracked down a version by one of the writers, Josh Kear. I've added it to my list above.

Jimmy and Covers

Yes, I agree that Jimm and the CRB have plenty enough writing talent to not do covers, but hey when you find a good one tkae it and make it yours. Johnny Cash did quite a few covers towards the end of his life, but as Trent Reznor said, once Johnny did one of your songs it became his.

I also think that many of the songs Jimmy has chosen also fit into that category of "Songs I wish we had written." And why not have fun with them?

I heard that Trent Reznor cried when he heard Johnny Cash's version of Hurt. I can see why. That performance is even better than the original. Absolutely amazing!!!
