Randy Moss
take away all of Tom Brady's recievers and he gets the Pats to the AFC championship without ever complaining . . . reward? Randy Moss. Or is it? Pats give up s*** but I hope Moss can do what Corey Dillon did and shut his pie hole and win a Super Bowl.

A little surprising the types of players/people the Pats have gone after this weekend but it sure solidifies them again as a Super Bowl caliber team. I'm an intern at the Pats so I've been working all weekend around the press box and now in the studio and it has been one of the coolest and exciting things to watch unfold. Whatever happens with Moss is debatable at this point but it is sure as hell going to make watching the Pats even more exciting.

Re: moss
The running game concerns me . . . but with Stallworth, Moss, and Welker as well as picking up pro - bowl caliber defense men the Pats are sick. Moss and Stallworth have to be better than what Brady has last year.parrothead338 wrote:A little surprising the types of players/people the Pats have gone after this weekend but it sure solidifies them again as a Super Bowl caliber team. Bellicheck makes winners out of everybody . . . I felt the same way about Corey Dillion . . . if Moss doesn't work out, then screw it, it is a no risk situation . . . they gave up nothing to get him.Zuke wrote:The Patriots can have Randy Moss, let's see how long it takes for Moss to start his bullsh*t.
I hope it starts in July, maybe he can babysit for Brady on those days when he doesn't feel like playing.
Brady with no wr's . . . AFC Champiosnhip
Brady with Stallworth and Moss and Welker . . . and a better defense - ?

to many veterans and SB rings on that team to let Moss get away with what he did in Minnesota and Oakland.....Plus the Boston media is something he has never faced.......The city will run him out of town if he doesn't clean up his act and not play hard!!Zuke wrote:The Patriots can have Randy Moss, let's see how long it takes for Moss to start his bullsh*t.

I agree. Moss is on WEEI right now and he appears to have a good attitude. I have to believe that since he is in title town that he wants to win. Bottom Line. It has been reported that he has his 40 down to like a 4.2 which is sick. And again, if he f's up then there's the door just like Bellicheck show Terry Glenn. The Pats lose nothing.TommyBahama wrote:to many veterans and SB rings on that team to let Moss get away with what he did in Minnesota and Oakland.....Plus the Boston media is something he has never faced.......The city will run him out of town if he doesn't clean up his act and not play hard!!Zuke wrote:The Patriots can have Randy Moss, let's see how long it takes for Moss to start his bullsh*t.

Randy Moss, baggage or not, has lots of miles on the tires. Injury in the first month of the regular season, I say, from which he won't return this season. Fans label him a bust and 18 months from now he's in a different uniform.
These moments we're left with, may we always remember, these moments are shared by few...

1. Apparently he has been training 8 hours a day and has his 40 down to 4.2
2. He won't be an every down guy . . . with Welker in the slot and Stallworth opposite, Moss will be out there as a deep ball threat . . . which leads me to
3. He will average less than 2.5 catches a game - but for 30 yards + on average.
That will be his value and that is what Brady needs.

The Pats will not be afraid to release him if he doesn't perform up to their standards. They lose nothing by giving up a 4th round pick. If he works out, the Pats become scary on offense, if he doesn't, no big deal, they cut him and move on.

Average season for Randy Moss since 2004:
50 catches, 775 yards, 8 TDs
There are few teams that don't have a guy who has been better than that.
But.....the Patriots ARE one of them.
They improve in this deal, but not appreciably
Moss in 2006: 42 catches, 553 yards, 3 TD
Rechee Caldwell: 61 catches, 760 yards, 4 TD

Moss is more of a threat . . . I think that his numbers will not show up in the stats page but in Welker's and Stallworth's season totals. Just having him on the field opens up the other wr's the Pats signed. Again - he will catch a few huge passes but I bet he doesn't catch more than 40 for the season . . . Welker, Stallworth, Watson, Maroney will benefit with the field more open.CaptainP wrote:Average season for Randy Moss since 2004:

I think a lot of defensive coordinators are aware that he is washed up. He hasn't been effective since 2003...drunkpirate66 wrote:Moss is more of a threat . . . Can't argue with that . . . but I do know that Brady has three wr's better than last year and that Moss was a no risk move. Unless you think a 4th round pick is a risk . . . small one at best. Brady is looking pretty scary for next season. With a couple new pro bowl defensvie threats the Pats have to be the odds on favorite in the AFC.CaptainP wrote:I think a lot of defensive coordinators are aware that he is washed up. I guess, to reiterate my point, the Patriots improve, but not a ton. He's still more talented than any other reciever they have, but he doesn't get the job done.drunkpirate66 wrote:Can't argue with that . . . but I do know that Brady has three wr's better than last year and that Moss was a no risk move. Perhapsm with the greatest (or top 3 to be fair to Montana and maybe Elway) Quarterback of the modern era throwing the ball he will do something a little bit more than b**** on the sideline. I hope.
