Jimmy Appears with Warren Buffett at Annual Meeting
Jimmy made a surprise appearance at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting with Warren Buffett: Berkshire Live: Updates from Q&A session
<em>
The meeting opened with a surprise. "Mr. Buffett" was introduced as debonair, talented and other superlatives, and out stepped singer Jimmy Buffett, wearing a Hawaiian shirt and shorts and bearing a guitar, who proclaimed himself a distant cousin to Warren Buffett. Jimmy Buffett said genetic testing was done, and the question of who will inherit Warren Buffett's company has been answered. Jimmy Buffett said "Since blood is thicker than water, I'm your new chairman." Jimmy Buffett later said he was kidding.
Jimmy Buffett performed a reworked version of "Margaritaville" that began, "Living on sponge cake, and Omaha beef steak, watching the shareholders running around." The chorus was "Wasting away in Berkshire Hathaway-a-ville."</em>
From MSNBC: <em>The singing Buffett, who performed a version of his hit "Margaritaville" adapted for the meeting, stumbled through lyrics placed at his feet. "Warren gave me a really big budget for a teleprompter here," he joked.</em>

People like to see their savings grow.chrisintampa wrote:amazing how such a capitalist has the following he does, then again how many of use wear suit to work and a hula skirt to a concert in the same day
During the heyday of Fidelity's Magellen fund success, the manager at the time enjoyed a cult-like following.
Warren Buffett's success with Birkshire Hathaway has made millionaires of many of his investors.
His basic and folksy ways are loved by many.
To most Americans "Capitalist" does not detract from a person's likeability, especially if he is making you rich.
Jimmy the Capitalist singer/songwriter/businessman has a huge following because he makes us happy.
We also like seeing someone earn the big bucks while wearing vacation casual duds.
Bob Dylan has been a shrewd businessman from day one.
Maybe it was a good thing that his fans did'nt realize it !

Lest we forget he made the single largest charitable donation. Ever.chrisintampa wrote:amazing how such a capitalist has the following he does, then again how many of use wear suit to work and a hula skirt to a concert in the same day
And we'll also forget he is more blue-collar than most, telling his kids they had better find their own success because he isn't leaving them any of his in an inheritance.

Capitalists got a bad rap in the sixties whenHebertNecessity wrote:What is wrong with being a Capitalist? It beat the hell out of being broke.
under-educated youngsters got the idea
that socialism was cool and that all others
were fools.
Under the influence of these misguided
students and teachers, I blindly followed along.
Living on a communal farm taught me the truth.
The eighties had most Americans that were supporting themselves
believing once again in the free market rather than Marx.
Unfortunatly these days, with the highest ever disparity
between the workers and the execs in pay as well benefits,
we are seeing a resurgance in a hatred of Capitalism
among our own countrymen.
The world, however, remains a greater place because of individuals
like Buffett and Buffett.
When the last bastion of communism finaly falls
(coming very soon to a caribbean country near you),
many people will begin to lead better and healthier lives.
Also, we might be able to get real sugar from cane in our
mass produced by Capitalists products instead of just high-fructose corn syrup.
We all will win.
I can't wait to see Jimmy Live ninety miles south of Key West,
and no longer only dreaming about Havanah.
Warren B. does not steal money from the little people.
Instead, he seeks out quality businesses and allows
regular folks to become part owners.
Because of his success, "regular" may no longer be an apt
description of his investors.
But, many of the multi-millionaires he has helped create
WERE indeed regular folk before they got involved with Berkshire.
Kids and adults alike enjoy eating at Dairy Queen.
Private jet ownership (partial) is no longer limited to millionaires.
B...B...B...Blame it on Buffett!!!!!!!!
