Tailgating In Bristow, VA
Does anyone know if you can tailgate in the parking lot at the Nissan Pavillion in Bristow, VA? I read on ticketmaster website there is no alcohol allowed in the parking lots! Say it isn't so! Has anyone out there tailgated and drank alcohol before a Jimmy Buffet show in Bristow, VA?

That's the standard write up. As long as you keep the alcohol "hidden" in a plastic cup, you'll be fine. Just don't drink it straight from the can/bottle.iblewoutmyflipflop wrote:Does anyone know if you can tailgate in the parking lot at the Nissan Pavillion in Bristow, VA? If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

tailgating at nissan
I have been to about 10 buffett shows at Nissan. Trust me, the tailgating is the best and the alcohol flows non stop from about 10:00 am until after midnight.
All they want to see is that you are drinking out of cups, not actual bottles or cans. As long as you aren't being "overly" rowdy, or committing a crime, you are fee to tailgate your head off.
So rather than worrying whether you can drink alcohol at Nissan, you should really worry whether or not you have enough......

You need to get there at least 8 hours early to keep from being in the worst traffic jam you'll ever seen in your life. I went last year. Left from 20 miles away 4 hours before the show started. Missed the first 2 songs b/c it took that long to get there. I understand they've changed things but I'll never go back there again. I'll just have to wait for him to come back to Raleigh, Gboro, Columbia, or Charlotte where you can get in and out a little easier.

I am going to back up what Gumbo just said...we were in the same situation last year. Left about four hours before the concert was supposed to start and got there right before it actually did. Didn't have any time to tailgate or walk around the parking lot. I thought I had heard they made some road improvements around Nissan...hopefully that is true.
But, as far as tailgaiting, there will be pleanty of it.
I hope for your sake it isn't 110 degrees this year.

I live about 25 minutes from Nissan and drive in the area a lot. There have been road improvements but it's still going to be crazy. We usually drive on the new 234 bypass to Wellington Rd. because we come from the east side of the county. It takes about 1 - 11/2 hours on concert day. And you can drink but everyone is right, it needs to be out of a cup. And be really careful if you are underage. The Prince William County police has their paddywagon there and just loaded it up with underage and too rowdy pholks. On the way into the venue last year, Wellington Rd had several signs saying: Arrested at the Show?? Call xxx-xxxx for bail assistance!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

it's a ton of fun. Lotsa folks bring games (corn hole and that sling-the-ping-ball-over-the-bar thing) and there's a little drinkin and eatin going on. We brought our bar and the grill. the guys next to us had a weedeater blender. some good times!

Tailgating? Buffett? Alcohol? It's the summertime trifecta.iblewoutmyflipflop wrote:Does anyone know if you can tailgate in the parking lot at the Nissan Pavillion in Bristow, VA? Here is the link to last year's "Who is going to Nissan": http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewto ... &start=320
Same questions raised - same answers given. Drink smartly (like don't have a 3 story beer bong) and don't be a jack**s. Then everyone has fun.
Oh, and bring some sort of shade.
Twenty degrees and the hockey games on...

I'm placing my order with the Tiki Gods for good weather!TIKIboy wrote:The best tailgating accessory last year (besides the beverages) was an inflatable pool with large amounts of ice. With 100+ degree heat, the best we could do was stand around with our feet in the pool to keep cool...and it worked!

Oh no...nothings changed. Last year the guy on the road told us to go in the first entrance so we did. Then the guys in there said no, you gotta go down to the second. We literally couldn't, we were ahead of the cars. They made us go back out the first and down to the second. insane.Gumbo wrote:You need to get there at least 8 hours early to keep from being in the worst traffic jam you'll ever seen in your life. One good thing about Nissan, when we went for Kenny Chesney we had an SUV and they let us park on the grass on the side of the exit road so when it was over we pulled right out. We were back in Baltimore and called my friend who was still stuck in the lot.
Def get there early. oh and the rumors flew last year about no tailgating, all went as planned, as usual. Funny thing...he stopped playing Merriweather bc they stopped letting fans tailgate (I WAS there that year...don't even ask). Well I went to Sunday in the Country last summer at Merriweather and we were not only drinking, but drinking out of bottles!

Yep, as long as you have cups you are fine. They just post that write up and put up signs at the pavilion to cover their asses.aeroparrot wrote:That's the standard write up.
