What's the strangest food your pet has eaten?
Tonight as I was ordering my Lynn Douglas shirts I was eating walnuts. My cat came over and wouldn't leave me alone. He was trying to get into the bag. I put one down knowing he wouldn't eat it but he did. Never had one eat them before.

I have two dauchsunds. They are little pigs disguised as dogs. So far they have eaten raw carrots, apple slices, bananas, almonds, cashews, walnuts, peanuts, snails, worms, moths, frogs, mice, voles, watermellon, ice cubes, and the list goes on and on.
Two weeks ago Dodger woofed down a pork bone and it was too big to pass through his small intestines. Only cost about $1,200 to get a pork bone removed from a dauchsund's small intestine.

Ok Freddy FiOS can't even hold a candle to them. Wow $1,200 dollars! You could have had a nice vacay on that!
PS I love staring at your avatar. God he's hot! That is Kurt Russell right? Not like I remember him on the Mickey Mouse Club.

Diamonds will eat anything. She's eaten hazelnuts before. I think her favorite non-meat is pineapple though.
Senna, on the other hand, doesn't even like cat food unless he's really hungry, although he does enjoy beignets.
Rozzie seems to be willing to eat anything (although she's pretty partial to toes right now- hopefully she'll grow out of it!), but I think that's more of a product of living on the streets- we'll see what happens as she grows up.
edited to add these are all cats

I don't know about normal- maybe just not uniquely strange?
A lot of people have told me she's weird. Oh yeah- she loves Krusteaz Key Lime bars. I found that out the hard way when she jumped on the counter and licked the filling off 3/4 of a pan while I was in the shower! Luckily (?) she got sick quickly enough after it to not have any lasting effects.

We once had a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. He was a dedicated food stealer. No combination of discipline or training (either us or him) could break him of the habit.
He'd strike like a Great White shark - coming from nowhere to hit fast and hard. He once nabbed a sandwich right out of my brother-in-law's hand (a man known to wave his hands around when he talks and eats). The same BIL also lost a chunk of syrup-laden pancake on the way from plate to mouth in the same manner.
But the problem was Oliver (the dog) was about as discriminating as a shark. If it looked or smelled remotely like FOOD he would wolf it down as quickly as possible. As a result he swallowed small toys, clothing (underwear I'm talkin - ughh!) and dish rags.
His best trick was to gobble down the plastic scouring pad we kept by the kitchen sink. He pooped it out a few days later and by the look on his face it wasn't near as much fun coming out as it was going in. Served him right is what I thought.
All these things might have killed him, but they didn't. After a few emergency vet visits, we learned how to administer our own home-grown vomit inducer. More mess on our kitchen floor but fewer vet bills.
He lived a long, exciting life. I'm sure he's stealing food in doggie heaven now.

Neither Amber nor Nutmeg will eat anything other than meat. Nutmeg only cat food. Amber will eat anything Tom has grilled as well.
We had a dog that LOVED ice cream. It was great....cuz I frequently stopped for ice cream "for the dog"
Those that are feeding nuts to dogs (or having them steal them) avoid macadamia nuts.
Tom's parents had a dog that stole a loaf of bread off a counter and ate it (wrapper and all) He was one sick doggy....

Fair disclosure: The following is too disgusting to read. Please don't trouble yourself.

I have 2 goldens.
Skibo will eat anything he loves melon and shares my love for spicy food. He can gulp down jalapenos like candy.
Kykuit has a weaker stomach lemon poppyseed muffins are his favorite.
They both love to play ball with a fresh lemon. Freshens their breath also.
