Indy 500
Just curious to see if anyone is coming to town or planning on watching the race. I am not much of a race fan myself but there are some great parties centered around the race. I have a friend who lives three blocks from the track and the night before is just crazy.

There is someone on BN that usually attends the 500, but I'm not sure about this year.
We will be on vacation, but we will try to keep track of what is going on at the ESPN cafe

Having grown up in Indy, the month of May was always exciting. I haven't actually been to the race in a while but Georgetown Rd. for a couple of days is pretty crazy. The parade is awesome too. I'm sure, with the Colts being the Super Bowl Champs and Peyton Manning being the grand marshall of the parade, I'm sure it's going to be pretty awesome. Wish we could be there this year.

We lived in Fishers from '93-'96. The first year my husband had to talk me into going.
After that, I was hooked. By time the '96 race rolled around, he gave me/us really great seats for our anniversary and I was thrilled!
Besides half the show is OUTSIDE the track!
I miss Indiana and the race. The month of May is awesome in Indy!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

The year we had the great seats, 5 really drunk guys sat in front of us with 3 coolers filled with beer. It was apparent they had been drinking all day and they remained very nice drunks and kept offering us some (we had our own) and then they ALL PASSED OUT and never saw the race!! We felt pretty bad that they missed what they came to see....or not.Hoosier PH wrote:I was there for pole day also, although I don't remember much of it.Capt.Flock wrote:I go every other year, I am not going this year. The first time I ever saw a naked woman was at the track. My dad took me when I was 8 or 9. I remember some woman was dancing naked on top of a van and either her boyfriend or husband had a hat collecting money.

If you ever get the chance let me know. And tickets are easy to come by. You can't really appreciate the size of the track until you are there. The place is huge.Lightning Bolt wrote:it's on my list of life experiences i just HAVE TO ATTEND at least ONCE in my life!!

Sadly, Jim Nabors will NOT be singing Back Home Again in Indiana this year.

Jim Nabors will not sing "Back Home Again in Indiana" during pre-race ceremonies at this year's Indianapolis 500, due to an undisclosed illness, according to a release issued by the speedway.

...and thanks for the friendly gesture, too.
I have got to re-prioritize Memorial Day weekend like I used to.
This year, I'm working on both Sat and Mon.
