AMI: Top 100 Movies

Post by drunkpirate66 »

On June 20th the American Movie Institute (I think that is what AMI stands for . . . ) is doing a special on tv where they rank the top 100 movies ever. Of course this is all subjective but I find their specials fun to watch.

Although I find nothing wrong with Gone With The Wind or Casablanca (I actually really love this movie . . . what Parrot Head couldn't, right?) I fear that it is a foregone conclusion that these will be the top 2. Perhaps the Godfather . . . another great flick.

Curious to know what movie or movies people would rank in their top ten.

My Top 5 - no particular order:

Raider of the Lost Ark
African Queen
Lord of the Rings (I count them as one really long movie).
Jaws
Shawshank Redemption

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly is close . . . as is Schindler's List.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

I never saw those. (Actually, I've never HEARD of those), but if Sean Connery is in them, they can't be that bad.

The first one was a great, fun movie.

The second one wasn't as good, but the music kicked butt!

yeah it did . . . getting the guitar guy from Faith No More to speak at the school in the future - hilarious. The second one was all about the music. Speaking of music in movies . . . Blue's Brother cannot be forgotten.

Not so sure; this could seriously make it . . . as well as other comedies like Animal House and Naked Gun (not car wash . . . ).

Certain comedies should make the list and these are classics. Blazing Saddles as well . . . good call on that!
