I hope I get to recognize your sweet teats this year! If we don't get a room, maybe we'll just set up shop all night in the Margaritaville alley!

why not rent a car? hotwire has been showing compacts in vegas as low as $9.95 a day.

Got a couple of rooms at the Amerisuites by the Hardrock for $108 a night. god bless being an employee of the federal government. I'm still waiting to hear back from my normal timeshare hookup. Looks like we'll have a place to stay regardless of what happens with that. Yay to not having to sleep in dark alleys!

Hey Marty, last time we were there it was only $13 each way from the airport in a cab- I think it's worth it to be able to go directly to the hotel instead of making 10 stops first.
We'll be at the Excalibur as well.

No kiddin'? Hmm, I'll have to check out the wait time when we get in. I agree with you, the 10 hotel hop
is frustrating. As long as it's not 2 hours to get a cab out, like txparrothead29's experience.
And so long as we dont' get 'taken for a ride'
Thanx!

Simply tell the cabbie "No Tunnel", they'll understand what you mean. Generally speaking it never cost me more than 20 dollars one way (I include the rest in the tip) from the hotel to the airport.

I usually hand the driver a $20 when I get in the cab and tell him he gets to keep everything above the cab fare. When they are in control of their own tip they usually find the quickest route from the airport to Caesars. I said usually because we all know that sometimes there is no avoiding a traffic jam.

Good advice pholks - thanx. I guess there's usually not a problem waiting for a cab, then?

If you are arriving on Friday, there may very well be a long wait for a cab. If you are coming in Thursday or earlier, probably won't be a problem.
The tunnel is a route that cab drivers in Las Vegas take to "long haul" passengers and inflate fares.....thats a good piece of advice to tell them no tunnel (or if you prefer, just let them take the route of their choice and give them no tip if they screw you by going the tunnel).

Actually, "long hauling" is frowned upon in Vegas, and they take it
very seriously. A cabbie can lose his license if he's caught doing it, and the phone number to report it is posted in each cab, along with the cabbies ID and company name. If you think you're being "taken for a ride", say so. If the driver can't explain why the route he is taking is so long, or the fare seems excessive over your previous experiences on the same trip - report it. But do remember, sometimes the longer route is the better route due to some of the massive traffic jams that can occur -so make sure you get the cabbie to explain himself before you assume the worst. In many years of travelling to Vegas, I can honestly say I have never had a cabbie try to take advantage, and have had them save me both time and money on many occasions by taking alternate routes that I wouldn't have normally considered. Just don't ask them to drive you down the Strip to see the sights on the way to your hotel - the meters still run while you're parked in gridlock!

BTW, most of the Limos will give you a flat rate around $40 - $50 for any hotel on the strip - a great deal if there are more than a couple of you heading to the same hotel!

Alright so I was in Vegas a week and a half ago (great benefit of living 4 hrs away) and, be warned, it was absolutely frigid at night. Bring jackets or you will end up buying one!

This inspired me to check the 10 day forecast on weather.com. For Saturday the 27th it has a high of 75, low 49. Hopefully the ladies all have enough drinks to still consider that bikini weather.

As a public service, I will not be in a bikini this year.
