Paris Show DVD to be Released

Post by phjim »

From Karl: The entire Paris concert at the "New Morning" was filmed with at least 3 professional video cameras, 2 stationary, and 1 mobile. I spoke to the camera man after the show regarding whether they were going to make a DVD of the concert. He said the Paris show itself was too small, so they are going to combine the footage with footage with the Anquilla show to make a DVD which should come out around Christmas time.

Having been at both shows, I think the Anguilla show was good enough to be a stand-alone DVD release. Instead of combining footage, I think I'd rather see a bonus DVD with footage from Paris, including maybe a little travelogue-type thing - maybe something along the lines of when they show Jimmy riding his bike around town when he does "The City" in concert.

Although I wasn't at the Paris show, I was in Anguilla, and I agree completely.

Do you think it will be out before or after the long awaited Coastal Confessions release??? and what about the SF Fillmore one???

I suppose we'll see them about the same time that RM finally plays that poorly transmitted 2006 Phoenix show promised!!!

Who's idea was it to combine the shows? I wasn't at either show, but it seems pretty goofy.

I agree with pbans and the other posts: Apples & Oranges - don't try to eat both at the same time, you won't like the results...

I entirely agree Larry (having been at both too)

Maybe they'll do a double DVD package with 2 discs in it (one for each show) or a dual sided DVD with one show on each side.

If they did this, it would give each show its own identity while saving parrotheads a few bux (of having to buy 2 separately marketed DVD's) while assuring that both get released (and one doesn't end up on the cutting room floor)

If it has to be just one release, I like the idea...but I'm guessing (based only on "Wrigley") that you'd end up with only half a set from each location. Since the band and atmosphere are so different between the locations, I think a seperate release for each one would still be the best option...and best for the revenue stream.

So a single case double DVD or single DVD with 2 shows on it will be released around Christmas.

Right. Just like Van Halen are gonna tour, "Guns'N'Roses" will release their "new" record and Coastal Confessions will come out all this year.

Which Christmas?

Snailboat right?

I was at the Anguilla show but not the Paris show. I would have loved to have done both but while I was hellbent on making Anguilla, Paris just didn't have the same appeal. I am more of a wanna be beach bum/salt water flats wandering fly fisherman than a fan of Europe's history and culture. I'd much rather see a manatee than the Mona Lisa!

Jimmy, please don't mix footage of the two shows on the same DVD. It would be like mixing Chateau La Tour with Pyrat XO!

Plus, selfishly, the less Anguilla footage on the DVD, the less possibility that my fiance and I can say "that's me, that's me" when we see footage of the crowd.

I'm sure your loyal Phans will buy BOTH DVD's! :D

I don't mind mixing the concerts on DVD. I'm more interested in getting the full shows released on CD.
