Yeah - go for it. We saw him in NC a few years ago and paid way more than that and our seats were a million miles away - I think he had some kind of back injury - so he was a "a little stiff" - I think an injury from a horse and fence? Don't remember those details but do remember it was hotter than the hinges of h*ll that night......
And raccoons brought wine and the mice they brought cheese...
Lyle had a broken leg from stepping in between a bull and his uncle. MY hero! Saw him that year in Corpus about 20 rows back and he had to sit the whole time. I remember the song Stand By Your Man.
I've seen Lyle a few times. One great time was the Aggie Bonfire Benefit with Robert Earl Keen. Another fun time was at Floore Country Store in Helotes, TX and I got to stand right up front by the stage all evening.
In Galveston one year, Russ Kunkel played with Lyle. He's the drummer who was producer on a few of Jimmy's albums.
After I saw this thread I went to ticketmaster to see if there were any seats left for Lyle's show at Radio City Music Hall last Thursday. I hadn't planned on going because I had to get up early Friday morning to go to the airport for my trip to Pittsburgh for Saturday's Buffett show. I pulled up a seat in the 3rd row and figured it was too good to pass up. Great show, with k.d. lang as the opening act. I knew nothing about her music, but what a voice.
Good for you, LIPH! You sure don't let the grass grow under your feet. What else was special about the show? (Stand By Your Man?!)
Always looking for a connection...here's a reach. I remember k. d. lang sang background vocals on the Black and White Night Roy Orbison DVD that Michael Utley was the music director for. What a great bunch of entertainers.
