For the pholks who've see Jimmy 10x or more.....Why?

Just interested in getting a feel for why we continue to go see Jimmy perform multiple times a year, year after year.
For me, I've only seen Jimmy 4 times since Nov. 2001 and only once did I see 2 concerts in 1 year so it's been somewhat fresh (other than SYKBH).

I'd currently put it at 75/25 towards going for the music, although trips to the tailgate in Cincinnati may be more in the 50/50 category! Image

The first concert was the music. after that, it became as much about the friends and "family" as it was about the music.

Obviously, I came for the music the first time. Then I got to experience the parking lot culture. As time has gone on, I still love the concert experience, but the parking lot plays a huge role on why I go so many times. It just wouldn't be the same without the tailgating.

or in the case of Alpine, "The Meeting of the Mindless?" fund-raiser the night before the concert, seeing old friends and partying with a purpose. :)

Must be for the music since we usually don't meet BNers at the concerts

I go to a lot of concerts because I can. If I can't spend my money on myself, who can I spend it on?

1st 25 times for the music (late 70's early 80's). The parties had not yet exploded.

Next 25 times for the party (late 80's early 90's). I organized some HUGE tailgating affairs at Merriweather Post Pavillion for about 10 years. Biggest involved getting 237 advance sale lawn tickets and several buses.

Last 25 times more out of tradition than anything else (late 90's to now). I've quit organizing the tailgating and focused on getting myself the best seats possible. Too damn much work to organize the tailgating each year.

I like both. It is great when eveyone is there to enjoy the music and party with people that feel like you do.

It's about 50/50 for me. I can't imagine one without the other.

There's nothing like being AT a live JB show...but, I've met some really special folks at JB tailgates, too.

The tailgate atmosphere is so alive and happy, whether it's a concert on my home turf or a show I travel to.
And getting to listen to JB sing his songs is like enjoying my favorite desert after having a great meal.

party or music?

I'd have to say I'm about 50/50. I LIVE for the tailgaiting,
but if I didn't LOVE the music I wouln't put so much time,
effort, and expense into getting tickets.
:pirate: argh! :pirate: ahoy! :pirate: avast!

I pick a city I've never been to and go visit. It just so happens that a Buffett concert is going on while I'm there!

50/50

It's between 50/50 and 75/25 for me- I get to spend time with so many old friends that I lean toward the tailgate.

A group of friends and I do this each summer when the MLB baseball schedule comes out! We pick a city the Orioles are playing in and do a 3 day road trip to catch the series. We've been to Tampa FL, Arlington TX, Cleveland OH, Seattle WA, Oakland/San Fran CA, Atlanta GA, NYC and Toronto so far doing this. We are the obnoxious Orioles fans wearing orange at the ballpark. :D

In most cities we've visted we are loudly booed for about an inning until the locals and us discover our mutual hatred of the NY Yankees then we're buying each other beer. Hatred of the Yankees is pretty universal. :D

the early years in Florida there weren't the tailgate parties. More recently;
Vegas, Santa Barbara, Oregon, Vancouver there have not been the tparties. So this year the trip east to experience it ALL for the first time. Crank up the Visa machine, order the beads.
 It's the music that still draws the crowd.
