Costa Rica

I'm headed to Costa Rica this Saturday and am interested in any particular recommendations people have had that are worth my effort. I am flying into San Jose and driving to the Arenal Volcano for several days. From there I'm heading into Guanacaste and staying in Playa Tamarindo for several more days and leaving from Liberia. If anyone has any particular "can't miss" things in these areas, I'd love to hear them.
For the most part, I'm planning to let the trip lead me, but don't want to come home and have missed something great/obvious. I have some good stuff thanks to several BN people (thanks to you all, especially Holly!). I thought I'd throw a line out there one more time before I go to see what I catch.
