Anyone else feel this is kinda hypocritical?
Believe me, I think it's great that they're doing something to raise awareness for climate change.
But...uh...how much energy are they using to power mics, sound systems, lights, instruments?
It's a great idea, but unless they're all doing acoustic sets in little coffee houses across the world, I don't buy it.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

And I wonder how many of them flew to the various cities they're performing in by private jet.jonesbeach10 wrote:Anyone else feel this is kinda hypocritical?

Not to mention Madonna's investments in a slew of companies that this is supposed to be standing up to.
Great idea but unfortunately a lot of hypocrisy.

They'll all parade around in their "LOOK AT ME, I CARE" costumes, take home with them tons of $$$$$ while promoting their Cause-du-Jour, and, come December, IT'S GOING TO GET COLD AGAIN!
They should change the name of this "event" to IDIOTS IN ACTION. (In honor of the idiots preforming and the idiots who buy into this crap).

IDIOTS IN ACTION? You shouldn't be so harsh on George Bush and Dick Cheney. They're not the sharpest knives in the drawer but I wouldn't call them idiots. By the way - which one is the ventriliquist and which one is the dummy?Wino you know wrote:They'll all parade around in their "LOOK AT ME, I CARE" costumes, take home with them tons of $$$$$ while promoting their Cause-du-Jour, and, come December, IT'S GOING TO GET COLD AGAIN!![]()

If Jimmy were doing this concert, would he be an idiot? Because he certinly supports what these" idiots" are speaking out for.

If the President and Vice President were partaking in this scam, then yes, I WOULD consider them idiots. Thankfully they're not.lati2d wrote:IDIOTS IN ACTION? You shouldn't be so harsh on George Bush and Dick Cheney. They're not the sharpest knives in the drawer but I wouldn't call them idiots.
BTW-(an unknown secret)-the sun has been around longer than Bush, Cheney, Clinton, Edwards, Guiliani, Obama, McCain, and every other politician, with the possible exception of Robert KKK Byrd and Teddy-the-Red-Nosed-Senator.
VENTRILIQUIST-Any of the "artists" playing at this event acting like the Messiahs they think they are.By the way - which one is the ventriliquist and which one is the dummy?
DUMMYS-Any of their lemmings who su.ck their a$$ every G.D. time they're told the sky is falling.
I support Jimmy for his MUSIC, not his political leanings. He can BELIEVE whatever he wants and support whoever he wants-as long as when I go to his concerts, I get a CONCERT, not an Al Gore revival show.If Jimmy were doing this concert, would he be an idiot? Because he certinly supports what these" idiots" are speaking out for.
Now pardon me while I go marvel at my neighbor's Cadillac Escalade and Hummer H-1.
(I'm poor-I can only afford a Jeep Grand Cherokee).

I take more stock in what Jimmy said in that recent interview that he isn't the greenest person in the world, but that it's something he needs to work on.

http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living ... _concerts/To maintain its green integrity, Live Earth is implementing "green event guidelines" for its concerts. The guidelines were issued with support from the US Green Building Council; John Picard, a former member of President Clinton's Green White House task force, is leading the efforts.
The guidelines are: All electricity that powers the shows will be from renewable sources; concessionaires will be encouraged to use suppliers of biodegradable plastics; waste will be minimized through recycling and reuse; venue offices will use as little energy as possible; production lighting will include the use of LED light bulbs; staff and artist air travel will be offset through carbon credits; and ground travel will be by hybrid or high-efficiency vehicles where possible.
