Like the game is ANYTHING like it was 30 years ago. There were no nickel and dime packages, or "cover-2". You didn't have the massive substitutions based on down and distance like you do now. Manning is the closest thing you have these days and he has to choose between 2-3 plays as he comes to the line. The game moves too fast to have to consider all the factors involved and keep track of who's on the field and what you did the last time in that situation.

It's still 11 on 11. The object of the game is still to put the ball in the end zone and keep you opponent out. If a quarterback in the NFL needs the coach to tell him what to do on every f'n play he doesn't belong on the field.

Do binoculars count as technology?
I'd say no only because they are legal for use in the upper coaches' box. This is the reason that you will often see a staffer shielding the defensive coach giving the signals, as best he can. I would also assume they would be legal on the sidelines, although I don't know it for a fact.
Not as technology as in computers, DVDs, iPods, etc, but it COULD be considered technology because you are aiding your sight.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

Anyone else remember when the Patriots made it to the AFC Championship last year? I do. Anyone else remember when Tom Brady got picked to end the game? Me too! Can't imagine that happening if they were cheating . . . Hey remember when the Patriots lost to Denver and Champ Bailey picked Brady . . . Hey remember when the Patriots didn't even make the playoffs after their first Super Bowl . . .? Want me to keep going?

Yup, they're guilty.

Guilty of doing what EVERY OTHER TEAM does AT HOME because they have the run of the stadium and can place cameras ANYWHERE. There was a panel on ESPN this morning (Tiki Barber and others) who said: ALL TEAMS DO IT.
They got caught. They broke a rule and got caught doing it.

I think it diminishes Belichek's so-called "genius" when he is doing this against an opponent, who have a head coach who used to work for Belichek, and, that head coach is known to be in a feud with him. Genius? He was BEGGING to get caught!!!

But they're so good that they must be cheating. Yeah, and using ritual scarifices to appease the weather gods. And, And belichek is evil, in fact he is the devil incarnate. And they have no class. But my team, my team is the classiest one in the NFl. Well except for him, and he did get away with that traffic thing, and oh yeah that guy got off for doing this. But hey they are still classier than the evil Patriots.

Wow! You just love giving up the counter-point to your own arguement, don't you?

That memo was issued to all teams, INCLUDING THE PATRIOTS, 3 DAYS before their season-opening game.

You get warned that they are watching for this sort of thing, and just go right ahead and do it?

Stupid AND arrogant!!!

Belichek has one of the largest "coaching trees" in the NFL (head coaches and coordinators in the NFL that worked for him). Everybody in the NFL is looking for every advantage they can get. Any NFL coach who isn't trying to GET every advantage winds up unemployed. The Pats "pushed the envelope", will be punished, and now we KNOW what the boundaries are.

One week after the punishment is handed out, nobody will be talking about it.

When was the last time we talked about Michael Vick?

That I agree with.

But I still don't think what the Pats did amounts to much.

Did anyone else see LT on Costas talking about how the Patriot players showed a lack of class last year? Ironic that it airs the same week the Bolts defense comes out talking crap about the Bears with personal insults. I like the Charges and maybe it is just roid rage by their defense, but boy talk about low class, maybe LT should talk to his defense.
Cant wait to see SD v. NE this weekend, should be the game of the week!!

Patriots Penalty for spying on Jets coaches:
Belichick is fined $500,000
Patriots are fined $250,000
If the Pats make the playoffs they lose their first round pick
If they don't make the playoffs they lose they lose a second and thrid round.

The Jets organization says that they agree with the ruling.

So if the Jacksonville Jaguars are known as the "Jags", and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are known as the "Bucs", what does that make the Tennessee Titans?

When I run my paper route in the middle of the night, I listen to a lot of sports-talk radio. The consensus seems to be:

*NON-Patriots fans think the penalties aren't harsh enough. They should lose an entire draft!

*Patriots fans are no longer denying that they did anything wrong, but they ALL say that EVERY team does it, why should we be punished?

Why would we talk about him in this thread? This is the NFL thread!!! He is not an NFL player.
