Brady already won 3 Super Bowls without big time receivers but he never had a year like this before. Does anybody honestly think he would have thrown 50 TD passes if Moss wasn't on that team? I'm not saying Moss should have been the MVP, but his name has to be in the conversation.
No way he would have.
Which is a worthless stat . . . like going 16 - 0. Without Moss, however, Brady would've been competing for a Super Bowl which he is pretty darn good at if you hadn't noticed with your view blocked by Romo's INT total. :D
Yeah, but INT stats are about as telling as TD stats. last time I checked, both teams were number one seeds in their conferences.
Doi!

Never underestimate the power of the dark side.
It scares me! Some of their fans are butt munchers but there is no denying what a good team they are. :-?

drunkpirate66 wrote:Some MVP Research . . . (actually I just glanced at today's Boston Globe)

Every MVP in the NFL since 1970 has been a Quarter Back or a Running Back . . . except for three . . .

1. 1986: Laurence Taylor (LB)
2. 1982: Mark Mosely (PK)
3. 1971: Alan Page:(DT)

Since 1970!

No way that for 34 of the last 37 years the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER IN THE NFL IS A QB OR AN RB!

Just goes to show how tainted voting is with fantasy type stats like big power numbers in the MLB.

Sad.
Well, I agree, if you are saying that the MVP is solely based on the "pretty boy" mentality.

If anyone still doubts that the Pats pursuit of perfection has expanded interest outside the usual sports fans...

I had lunch today with my 70 year old aunt, who's a nun, and her BFF, Sr. Lucille. Neither one cares about football or sports in general, but they both watched the NE-giants game and we had a rather amazing discussion about whether NY should have rested its regulars before the playoffs. :o They knew NE's accomplishment was something special and probably wouldn't happen again in their lifetimes. They work at a local college and like to keep up interesting conversations with the students. She never ceases to amaze me! :D 8)

Sorry . . . just a funny image of a 70 year old nun using the phrase BFF.

Sort of cute.

In a correction to a previous post, the one I had for the SF linebacker as defensive player of the year, as noted before, should have been noted as rookie. Saunders of the Colts is the defensive player of the year.

A bit of a surprise, but maybe not a bad decision on his part.
His final career totals: 171-101, including 17-7 in the playoffs, a career .629 winning percentage that ranks third all-time behind George Halas and Don Shula among coaches with more than 125 wins.

Apparently, to this guy on ESPN.com, he thinks that the Pats won't win the Super Bowl because of Tom Brady. He states that no qb that has won the passing title, has ever taken his team to win the Super Bowl.
