Now some praise for CIP and gluten-free...

I know it's not necessarily JB related since CIPs don't have the same Buffett involvement as the M'ville's do, but it's worth the praise, once again, for Buffett having his name attached to places where people can successfully eat gluten-free and seem to be consistently praised for it.

(As an aside, the other "Outback" restaurants including Outback and Bonefish also have gluten-free menus).

Anyway, here is a link to a thread on the gluten-free forums praising the Madison CIP (someone even wishes for a CIP in CO!) and another person having eaten gluten-free in IN and GA!

In case some of y'all didn't see my first thread about Chef Dan and M'ville Orlando, my daughter has Celiac disease meaning she can't eat anything with wheat, rye, barley, or oats in it (or even come into contact with it) without getting very sick (read: mucho poopie) and suffering intestinal damage. So, to find restaurants who are thoughtful enough not only to have gluten-free menu options but also have workers who care enough to ensure the gluten-free food doesn't get contaminated with things like buns, croutons, and breaded foods is a HUGE deal. Even if it's a tiny crumb, a Celiac sufferer may as well eat a loaf of bread.

So, here's a big HOO-RAHH for CIP (especially Madison) but everywhere!

This is really cool! We have a CIP about 5 minutes from my house and I'm going to ask if they have a gluten-free menu the next time we're there.

I usually wind up eating a grilled chicken cesar salad without croutons whenever I go out and usually stilll have some "symptoms" the next day!

Looks like they use dedicated fryers for their french fries so breaded stuff from onion rings and chicken don't get in there. That's always a good thing!

You're right about the dressing. I stopped getting the bottle type dressing and now order oil and vinegar. What scares me most are sauces! Even a little sometimes will wreck the next day for me.

Sauces are evil these days for us too. We usually think of one we'd like and make one ourselves. GF soy sauce and GF teriyaki are ones we buy in bulk (Victoria LOVES stir fry!).

Yes, it arrived while we were in Vegas!!! Victoria totally just munched gingerbread muffin cookie things. She LOVED them!! (Thanks Jen!) The non-GF cookies gave hubby a woody I think.

Oh yeah... Annie's Naturals makes a lot of sauces and dressings that are GF (not all are so check the label--they are clearly marked): http://www.consorzio.com/. Victoria likes the raspberry vinegarette. She eats a lot of salads these days.

My son (5 yo) is Celiac too and I just wanted to give a shout-out bc I just love it when I find others out there too. Which, as you probably know, is getting more and more frequent....

No CIP in Burlington, VT, but we do have an Outback and my son loves their ribs.

It's always nice to find someone in the same "boat" as me. I've never even been to an Outback (or a CIP, none in Colorado) but I'm sure we'll make it there. I have serious gluten-paranoia.
