"AHI" is a type of fish, and Poki means it's (BRACE YOURSELF), RAW
The Japanese eat sashimi (raw fish) all the time. I tried it when I was over there and I LOVE it.

It's really expensive in stores and restaurants, but definately worth it.
aahhh i see! no raw fish for me! but i'll be eating lots of it cooked! :D
I'm going to have some Mahi Mahi blackened with mango salsa tonight. New recipe [smilie=superkewl.gif]

We're thinking about doing a luau if we can get a group together for Tuesday night or Wednesday night;

Is anyone else interested?
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving

I'm leaning toward Germaine's and I think Wednesday night would be better. Maybe one of our locals will have an in, if not I'll call to see if we can get a group booking once we know how many we'll have.

Looked at the "luau links" online and this sounds like a good plan! Let us know when the arrangements come together. Thanks! Aloha-------

I have gone to both.
Paradise Cove is the better of the two.

I was planning on going Friday night because we have a person coming in late Wed afternoon. I don't think she will get to Waikiki in time to catch the bus.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body; but rather to skid in PortSide, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming,
'What a lovely cruise!'

I'll arrange some pupu specials at Mai Tai Bar for the "drink and greet". The ahi sashimi and the poki are superb. I sign for the fresh fish often enough and I can attest to its freshness. They also do normal grub like burgers and chicken. The avocado rolls are a favorite of mine.

If I'm sober enough to worry about dinner, something is wrong. Please pour rum into my mouth immediately.

At some point that afternoon, I must head over to the Diamond Head Health Bar for the kava smoothie. After reading Jimmy's tales about its magic and confirming said magic, there is no way I'm seeing this show without some kava in me. :)

Friday is just as good for us so Friday it is. We haven't been to either luau so we'll trust everyone else's axperience.

So far I think we have 11 for the luau;
Fleshandbone & murPH
Flipflopgirl & Jr mint +1
Mango-Man +1
Mr Play & Mrs. Play
NorthcoastParrothead +1

Anybody else?

If I'm not luau'd out (Island cruise in Sept) I'd be interested. I have not been to either, but work with a lot of travelers and so far Paradise Cove is winning. :wench:

I find it difficult planning so far ahead! :o

I'm also a bit overwhelmed by the Oahu Visitor's Guide that came in yesterday's mail. :o

But first, bg and I need to figure out where we're gonna stay! :o

I called Paradise Cove. The group rate for 20 or more is $58.50 for adults compared to the $73 that's listed on their website. We could all just book it separately but I doubt we'd all be able to sit together if we did it that way.

If anybody's looking for a hotel on the cheap, we've stayed at the Royal Grove Hotel in Waikiki for about $60 bucks. :o
Needed a place for one night while waiting for our Maui flight, this place is at most a block and a half from Duke's statue on Waikiki Beach. Older but clean, Mom & Pop type of place with a friendly staff. Tripadvisor lists it as #17 of 87 Honolulu hotels.

I sent for the info packet when the show was announced, yet to get it.
Has it been informative?

Anyone else need to go to WILLCALL the day of show to pick up PHIP tickets?
