More odd places you hear Jimmy

Post by jimsig »

With in a 20 mins yesterday I heard 2 Buffett songs where I would least expect them. First was when I was listening to Howie Carr a talk radio host. As he was coming back from commercial Jimmy's version of Werewolves Of London was the music. The in front of the Boston Garden Dunkin Donutes was having some sort of promotional event and they had a guy playing the Steel Drums, he was playing Fruitcakes.

I have heard a few Jimmy songs piped through random store overhead music.

I was at a Hampton Inn last weekend in College Park MD (not exactly a garden spot :-? ) and I heard Come Monday on the elevator! Definitely brought a smile to my face knowing, come Monday, I'd be outta there! :D
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Okay, the all time strangest place, a Benny Hill Show. I was watching and "Come Monday" started playing as Benny was driving throught the English country side. It was a "muzac" version but it was "Come Monday".

We were at my little nephew's birthday party at the local pool. They pipe in kids music from somewhere - you know, "the wheels on the bus go round and round" and such.

Imagine my surprise and delight when "Off to See the Lizard" cranked up.

Best part.... my kids both came running over and said "Dad!!! That's Jimmy Buffett!!!" :D :D :D

Our Dollar Tree manager is a JB fan and also likes Little Feat, so I hear both of them quite often when in the store :D

By far the oddest place I have found Jimmy is the Muzak version of "Manana" on a Nintendo video game (Mario Party 4).

I wonder if it's a Dollar Tree thing. They just recently opened one here, and the only two times I went in there, they were playing Jimmy. Can't remember which songs, but they were unexpected.

I ask if they had piped in music from main management and was told each store manager gets to make their own collections to play. :D

It's not really an odd place, but when I was driving home a couple of weeks ago, I heard "Come Monday" on the radio, wedged in between a Pink Floyd song and a Frank Zappa song.
