Tinley show
What was the total attendance last night?
Had a great time. My first time at Tinley. We didn't think we would be able to tailgate. But there were lots of people tailgating. Thanks to the guy with the portable porta potty.

Wish I could have been there.

thats what they say--but I know for a fact that they had a lot more in there, hell the pavillion alone is close to 20,000. And their lawn is bigger than any other lawn out there. Plus you also gotta remember they have quire a few skyboxes and new party decks.

Pretty well packed in there, though I have been in the same venue when they packed in 65,000 people.
Tinley Park's capacity is 28,000 and the pavillion holds about 12,000-13,000! This is directly from the venue!
Also, the authorities would never allow overcrowding to a number like 65,000 because it would be a safety hazard!
Most venues put out a sold-out notice and then perhaps, will sell a few, read that maybe up to 1000 or 2000 extra lawn seats, but never anywhere near double the capacity! They then would be liable for endangering lives by exceeding their listed capacity, if something terrible happened! (A fire, major accident, explosion, riot)

Nancy you are exactly right! That would be their maxium capacity, including all areas of the venue!!conched wrote:Wish I could have been there.

How old is that info? They have expanded quite a few times, I knowing this because I only live 15 mins from the venue, and have been there more times than I can count.

Here's the number if you want to call them: (708)-614-1616! And for you it won't be long distance!

That's understandable Ellen, especially for a Buffett concert! The venue is probably fudging a little on figures to make a few extra "$$$$" on a show, that they know that will the demand! But I don't believe any venue would try to do double!ejr wrote:I actually have heard that they get more than 30,000 in there too. I think they all do this a little. Here in Cleveland, at Blossom Music Center, They have an "official " sell-out at 18,500 and then sell to maybe 20 or 21, but only lawn seats! You know seats that can't be tracked! Extra revenue for the venue and ....disappearing money!
We were glad to hear you had a nice time last night!

Great tailgating and weather to boot....I came from Boise with my wife and joined friends from Sacramento as well as Plainfield/Chicago area....concert was fine but the preparty is always the reason to go for sure.....

one complaint that i did have though, was that we had 5 seats to our right, 3 directly in front of us (front row), and at least 4-5 behind us in the third row that were EMPTY!! no one showed for the seats...i know some parrotheads out there would kill for those seats and they were empty. i hope to never see that again

Whoever had those seats must have gotten them for free and decided not to goLNDSHRK wrote:my tickets weren't scanned either...i thought that was kind of weird, especially when i went down front. we had two tickets in sec. 102 row B, amazing 2nd row seats.buckinboise wrote:the worst thing about the ticket attendance issue is that 7 people in our group.......we all had tix and never once were asked for them when we entered the venue...not one tix scanned...unreal

Either that or some broker tried (key word: tried) to sell them for an outrageous amount and got stuck with them

I know of someone who meandered down to the in-close empty seats and was immediately turned back by security. Why? Why? The only comfort is maybe a scalper took a loss? BUT I agree with you - maybe not really kill for such seats - but would have gladly filled them!LNDSHRK wrote: my tickets weren't scanned either...i thought that was kind of weird, especially when i went down front. we had two tickets in sec. 102 row B, amazing 2nd row seats.

Well, we had front row seats and all the seats around us were filled. What irks me is that very rude people were sneaking their friends next to us and pushing us right out of our seats.magnus & Mr Moon wrote:I know of someone who meandered down to the in-close empty seats and was immediately turned back by security. I only saw you (from a distance) because of your nametag... But... can you tell us how you were able to get these highly desired front row seats???Migration Michelle wrote:Well, we had front row seats and all the seats around us were filled. Yeah my wife and I both felt it was waaaay more crowded than in years past. And they were letting people dance in the walkways making it nearly impossible to get through even when Jimmy was playing. I remember 5 years ago getting told to "move it along" when I stopped to wave at a friend.ejr wrote:

Other than that we had a blast and the bar we had set up in the parking lot got 2 seconds of airtime on the screens during 5 O'Clock Somewhere.
Can't wait for Alpine!!!
