not even close to a sell out.... never thought I'd see it.....
from what I saw it is just singles way in the back in 300 sections where you would need the Hubble Telescope to see anything. According to the local authorities, Gillette submitted that over 120,000 tickets have been sold for both shows which is close to 3 times the number for Great Woods (smaller capacity obviously) . . . looks like the powers that be are trying to squeeze every last dime they can out of this . . . when I tried ticketmaster just 5 minutes ago for sh&ts and giggles all I could get was a single seat roughly 100 yards from the stage in the second to back row of the upper level.
I stand corrected . . . tried again and a pair came up in section 111. Wow!
I pulled a pair in A3 row 37. Can you imagine such a thing at GW?

No. Never.

Well I think it's pretty clear that while Jimmy has a ton of loyal fans and can sell out GW easily, he just doesnt have the punch to sell out Gillette twice in one week
If it was one show, I could see a sell out

Jen,
If this is the ad your referring to :
It has been there for at least 2 weeks. Brokers and scalpers can't be happy about that, esp. the ones who pay to advertise on boston.com

When the show went on sale all of the tickets for both shows were gone by the end of the day. They could have sold a lot more that day, so why hold back so many tickets to be released just a week before the show? The demand and buzz was very high back when they went onsale. Many in the general public may not even know tickets are still available now. Wonder if that's a JB Mgmt. or Gillette decision as to when to and how many tickets to release after the show already "sold-out"?

the tickets they wanted to sellwere gone by the end of the day the whole idea is create supply and demand that drives people to buy more tix
the perception out there was , grab as many as you can as fast as you can, you'll always be ablel to find someone who will buy them" as we have seen the people who bought ten couldn't get nine people to go, hence the market is flooded with tix if this show goea off without a parking problem, and the reviews are great re tailagating etc.. the 9/8 tix have a better chance selling if you have 9/8 tix and have to sell them, do so now.

I have seen in my club's board that the town of Foxboro is going to prohibit ALL parking lots, including private ones, from opening before 3 PM on both days.

I respect most law enforcement but all this does is create more drunk driving because people are going to party before they leave their homes and hotels . . . probably crack a few road sodas too . . . so stupid!
This isn't something like Ozzfest where 30,000 15 year olds are running around . . . they should've considered the crowd and said "hey, lets open early and get them in there safely!"

Perhaps it is the Coast Guard in me . . . but I strongly feel that the construction on Route 1 is the problem
SO IF, and a big
IF, they are going to allow concerts at Gillette through the construction then the town of Foxboro should take the responsibility to put
more police out there to direct traffic more effectively . . .
as opposed to just delaying the traffic mess until 3PM . . . with more drunk drivers because that is all they are going to get.

It's that and the behavior of the crowd. The country crowd got WAY out of hand with a ton of drunks
Well what's Buffett tailgating known for.......lots of drinking. Sure you can argue you're a more mature crowd etc
But the cops don't care. They care about the fights, arrests, ambulance runs etc.
They went through one rough spot, they aren't going to do it again
Maybe if the 9/2 crowd behaves they will loosen up a bit

I have always thought that Parrot Heads are some of the most respectful people . . . the Foxboro police should have called Mansfield. I bet Mansfield would have said positive things.

I agree with you. Might as well let everyone into the parking lots so at least they can control the alcohol intake, somewhat.

The Mass State Police dont see it that way
They see a big unruly crowd at one show, they see the potential for it happening again
Look you're going for a concert anyway right ?

It's a no win situation for Buffett Fans if the police and security are really that strict on Sunday and there are no problems then they will say they extra tight security worked and they will do it again on the 8th.
I think it is a sure bet that for the show on the 8th at best, we can expect the same restrictions will apply but should the fans get out of control Sunday then expect tighter restrictions will be in place next week.
I was planning on going on the 8th but I doubt I will now.

Hi Guys
We are planning on parking with you 9/2, wondering when your lot will open? We have a small rv, 20', winnebago. How much to park? Thanks
Too Funny....
I just called the EndZone to see if there were any cancellations for Sunday (so far none) and asked what time they are opening the lot for non guest parking, the guy said around 2-2:30. I said if I got there at 1 could I get in and he said yea probably.

This country festival must have had an impressive collection of drunken idiots.
I've been to more than a few concerts in my day. And while I admit I've never seen more drinking than at a Buffett concert, I have also never seen more good hearted fun or less trouble than at a Buffett concert.
Seriously, Buffett fans for the most part, have a lot of concert experience and left most of the hell rising behind them. Maybe its the age, maybe its the maturity (though grass skirts and coconut bras might challenge the maturity point), or maybe after all these years we've figured out how to have fun while leaving the ego at home.
Just rambling but the point is, I thought I was past all this, now I feel like I'm 19 again and going to a Black Sabbath concert at New Haven Coliseum. I'm too old for this S**t

yep, it sounds like the "country music festival" has scared the powers that be. guess they just dont realize that this will be a totally different crowd...not many "hell raisers"
