Karl Rove Leaves White House
I guess he was smart enough to abandon ship before things got any worse.

Re: Karl Rove Leaves White House
If that were the case, he'd have left after the first term, like most of the cabinet did.Triathlete-Parakeet2 wrote:I guess he was smart enough to abandon ship before things got any worse.
Rove enjoys the action. I think he realizes there isn't much left to do with a lame duck president and a congress set on investigating instead of legislating. He will be back working for one of the candidates. Hopefully it will be for one that I do not support. He is such a lightening rod that I believe he will now hurt any candidate he openly supports.

It's a G.D. conspiracy.
Just when the prices of milk are going through the roof, Rove leaves D.C. and heads back home to Texas, where his family has been involved in cattle raising.
He apparently feels there is an impending investigation into big cattle (as opposed to big oil), so he's getting out of town while the getting is good, and headed back to Texas where he'll reap more obscene profits from the cattle industry before the Democrats attempt to shut down the business while they investigate due to record revenues from the sale of milk, never mind the fact that nobody can find any illegal aliens to milk the friggin' cows-it's all Karl Rove's and President Bush's fault.
SICK 'EM, DEMOCRATS!!!

To my knowledge, the only one who ever reaped obscene profits from the cattle industry was Hillary Clinton. $100,000 in a year in the cattle futures market.
(BTW, given the amount of $$ she started with and the rules/regs of margin requirements, her feat was actually impossible - at least without a friendly broker crediting profitable trades to her account. )

MRS. BILL CLINTON (God-dammit, let's call her by her REAL name) DOES NOT RECALL where all those profits came from. (After all, she DID say so).
Karl Rove had profits on him mind all along. "CAN'T FIND ANY PEDRO, JUAN, OR JOSE TO MILK THE COWS? SCREW 'EM! LET THE MASSES PAY!"

Good luck to Mr. Rove. I hope he doesn't start a career as a dancer!
My only question is - Who will be George Bush's brain now?
Most people have always claimed that Rove was his brain. And of course that Rumsfeld/Cheney were/are the real acting President(s).

shall we talk about the Clinton years of ignoring the facts of terrorists activity?lati2d wrote:Hey - the buck stops THERE. Or at least one of the better Presidents( Truman ) said.12vmanRick wrote:it's all Bush's fault about everything isn't it?
Just think - We still have 17 months of this lame duck president to endure.

While I personally don't want to hear the name Karl Rove anymore (let alone the names of George W Bush, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Donald Rumsfeld, etc) it just doesn't seem right to me that these men will move on to whatever ex-politicos do (directorships/CEOs of large corporations I guess) and a comfortable post-political life, while at the same time most of those poor SOBs in uniform will likely STILL be in that HOT DUSTY DANGEROUS PLACE that Bush & Co sent them to over four years ago.
Is there not some way that we could compel a 12 month duty tour in Iraq from our retiring politicians and their brains?
I mean, if they were serious about having an empire they would surely have known that the Roman empire, one of the best know in our history, when at its strongest saw politicians/generals actually serving with their legions on the field of battle. Furthermore, in the unfortunate circumstance of Roman politicians/generals losing a battle, they were usually captured and executed (frequently by beheading) at the hands of their victorious opponents.
Love them or hate them, I would like to see our leaders at least set such a good example.
I propose a term of compulsory military service (front line) as qualification for holding high elected office - but not BEFORE holding that office. Rather I propose a term of compulsory military service (front line) to begin immediately AFTER a term of high elected office is completed.
This would go a long way towards restoring the national character, renew the respect of the people for high elected office, and would probably cut down on military adventurism.
I think they could probably fit Karl Rove with suitable battle dress (with body amour even) and it would likely do him a world of good - maybe even make a man out of him.

Yup. Good plan. Would have worked well for FDR and we all know what a war-time screwup he was... Oh yeah, Britain should do it too, after all the problems Churchill caused....flyboy55 wrote:

So would you have sent President Clinton to Bosnia or Somalia?flyboy55 wrote: I propose a term of compulsory military service (front line) as qualification for holding high elected office - but not BEFORE holding that office. Your solution while intriguing wouldn't do much to restore respect to the office of president. Respect of our national leader has been degrading for well over 30 years, both parties are to blame.

I don't think you are giving this idea the chance it deserves to grow and develop.
Yes there may be circumstances that would exempt one from post-political military service. These could be some of the same ones that currently exempt some individuals from military service - physical or mental deficiencies that would be a detriment on the battle field.
But I don't think such virile and able-bodied individuals of the type exemplified by Karl Rove would normally qualify for such exemptions (unless he has hidden his deficiencies very well).
However, I don't think exemptions should be handed out without some serious scrutiny. The spectacle of retiring politicos avoiding service with self-inflicted non-lethal wounds or by feigning idiocy would probably be detrimental to the overall program and in the end do more harm than good to the nation's character.

Uh . . . I don't think Karl is answering to anybody or anything now.krusin1 wrote:Karl will be a bigger pain for the Dems away from the White House. No need to answer to anybody or anything...
Actually, I think if and when he goes back to being just 'Joe Citizen' he will be much more well-behaved. Criminal activity carries penalties for those not protected by executive privilege.

Actually, Karl wants to be able to make all of the Vegas dates and he's getting his surf board ready for Jimmy's shows in Hawaii and (possibly) Tahiti. THAT IS WHY HE IS RETIRING NOW. Being a Skull and Crossbones guy, he heard the official and true rumor that this is actually Jimmy's last year of touring. Karl will NOT miss the end of this tour.
I saw him at the Orlando Margaritaville store buying leis, a coconut bra and a cheeseburger outfit.
Karl is gonna throw the best tailgates. It is gonna be amazing! Can't wait to drink Mojitos at the MGM with ya, dude! Bring your buddies Scooter and tricky Dick the 2nd. I heard those guys are a blast! Scooter can pass a hat for help paying his fine.

I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

Oh, so John Kerry-type injuries wouldn't qualify...flyboy55 wrote:
