What's it like if you have the lawn tickets for this venue? Is the sound good? What's the weather like on a late September evening?

Sound is not bad. Jimmy usually has screens for viewing (lawn is a ways back). Best tailgating in California. That alone is worth going for. And I'm pretty sure most hotels shuttle to John wayne, but you can always call to check. God I'm going to miss Irvine. Oh well Hawaii should make up for it 8)

So how's the weather at that time of the year? Nice or very nice? How that tailgating usually work. Everyone brings there own food/drink, or does someone organize a party with everything included for a price?

Mostly groups get together and do some wild and crazy stuff. Fun too. Usually you can wander around and join in. Keep watching this thread and I'm sure someone will start a tailgate thread for Irvine. Weather can be fickle. If Santa Anna winds are blowing it will be hot!! But can be chilly in the evenings, maybe even 50s. Last time I was there it drizzled. Nothing major .

At that time of year the weather can be all over the place. We were at the Thursday show and it was a little chilly, but once Jimmy started the whole place seemed to warm up.

I am planning on going to the sporting goods store next week to get some of those hand warmer packets. Just open the package and put packet in a pocket. They stay warm for hours.

Since this is my first Irvine show, I went to look at the venue rules and a couple of things caught my eye. I was wondering if those with experience have some recommendations/knowledge with how strict some they are on some of these... are some loose, some ignored, some better safe than sorry, etc.

-- beach balls prohibited. ??? I've always gone to Nissan Pavilion in Virginia, and beach balls are EVERYWHERE there. It's the main warm-up activity between when the gates open and Jimmy gets on stage.
-- no cameras.

And, I guess, any general advice for a first-time Irvine attendee. :)

I don't remember a no beach ball policy...but it wouldn't surprise me. Even Jimmy seems to be tiring of them. Cameras have always been prohibited, you just have to be sneaky. Also, Jimmy's rider will supercede the venue's yes/no list, so things you might think are ok to bring in might not be...I know Jimmy doesn't allow bottled water even if the venues do.

In the lot they definitely enforce the no glass bottles rule, and that may even include cans (can't remember). Everything in a cup, so bring plenty of the ubiquitous red cups to share with those who forget. And bring trash bags for your trash.

Is this a sure fire sell out? I am not 100% if I can make it yet but don't want to miss out on tickets. Should I buy tomorrow and hope for the best or do I have some time?
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

I've asked this question in one of these Irvine threads. I believe the answer was yes it will sell out, and sell out in minutes. So I say buy, and if you can't go sell them on our ticket exchange.

I'd bet on it being a sell out due to how many folks got shut out last year (damb brokers). Lynn is going to try to get tickets for me since I am away from home and in the land of dial up and Borders doesn't open til 10. Hopefully she can get thru...but if she doesn't and anyone ends up with two extra tix, I'll call dibs on them! :D
