It does seem a bit slow on here, considering that this is the party to be at for JB

I just spoke to the Sales Manager at the Doubletree Hotel Irvine Spectrum and I was able to get a special rate of $99 per night set up for the weekend of the concert. They also have a non-refundable rate of $92.65, but it is non-refundable.

If you want the $99 rate you need to tell them you are going to the Jimmy Buffett Concert and you would like the "Concert Rate"

Here is the info on the Hotel.

Doubletree Hotel Irvine-Spectrum
90 Pacifica Avenue
Irvine, California 92618
1-949-471-8888

Hope this helps wake up the board.

I had the Refresh thing happen to me in the past, but the funny thing is this time I did not touch the Refresh, and I still got blocked.

I booked at room at the La Quinta which is really close. I've been getting some buzz that there's going to be a pre-concert party there starting at 11am with an "insider" giving the word when the parking lot opens.

The La Quinta has had several events at it (Migration being 1). I've stayed there several times. Tia Juana's Mexican Bar is there along with Knollwood's which is good for breakfast in the morning. The only bad thing is that it's right next to the train tracks. :o If you drink more, you'll never hear 'em....

Insider? It would be nice to know when the parking lot opens that day, we did decide to buy the preferred parking, I don't know how many other people have. None the less, we are going to tailgate, no RV, but we have a tailgate unit that we usually use for football games. It be nice to get more tips one what we should bring.

Just checked the La Quinta Inn website and they are showing a rate of $109 per night for the Irvine Spectrum location.

It's a great venue. I saw him there in April '06, it was a blast. I can't wait for this show, well I guess I can, like I have a choice.
While I do not profess to be an expert, here is what I know from seeing Jimmy here at least 20 times since 1987.......

This venue in our opinion is the Holy Grail of Buffett tailgates west of Great Woods in Boston (we are taking our bus to both Gillette shows next week). Irvine has a great phan base from southern California and it is a riot.

The venue tells everyone the parking lots open at 3 pm. Sure, and pigs fly. Every year, so many people are across the street in a wide array of vehicles they end up opening the lots between Noon and 1 pm at the latest.

The venue itself is fine, 2/3 seats and 1/3 lawn. God help you if you need to go to the bathroom that serves the lawn area...it is crowded. It is a bit of a walk to get to the seats once you enter the venue, but the walk is not too bad.

Alpine Valley is sure a great place to see Jimmy with super phans (we saw Jimmy there during a biz trip to Chicago and detoured to WI). While Irvine may not seem as large, just wait....it will be insane.

We wil be there as always, not taking the bus this year, we will be in our white Bentley convertible with PIRET40 California plates promptly at Noon enjoying what should be another sunny tailgate and a great show.

Sounds great! Please stop by! The bus is on the east coast this year, and we pick it up 9/1 outside of Philadelphia, drive it to Hartford for the Kenny Chesney show that night, then on to Gillette for Jimmy's 9/2 show. After a few days in NY, RI and the Cape, back to Gillette foir the 9/8 show. Then back in th eplane and head home.

At Irvine, we will be doing the car thing, supplemented with our escalade equipped with a driver to take us home as we plan on having a couple over the legal limit. We are flipping burgers and will have a beer or two for friends, stop by for food & drink!

Has anyone had any problems getting a camera into the Irvine show in the past?? I got a disposable camera in last year without any problems, but the pictures came out terrible, so this year I would like to bring my digital to the show. My problem is I am taking a hotel shuttle to the show, and I won't have anyplace to store the camera if they stop me. Any suggestions??

Get a nice big set of boobs and put the camera in between them. Then throw a bunch of leis on top of that. No problem.... It's great because there are several items that can be good for....cameras, small bottles of alcohol....imagine the possibilities!
