Time is ticking! We're making big plans this time, tripling the tiki bar, including the new grill, and we've considered a generator and PA/speaker system to do karaoke and tunes. Anyone in for such fun?

We've been searching for places that rent equipment, so far, everything seems a bit high in price.

That would be great! The item that I think will be most difficult to come by will be the bigger speakers and something to drive them. I don't think we'll need video for karaoke words, folks can make up the words if they don't know them, so that isn't really an issue as far as I'm concerned (more fun that way anyway)... but getting some speakers that carry volume is key.

You probably should plan on more than two hours singing... and about four hours of drinking before the singing.

So far it looks like GB may be able to acquire a generator, and poconomon can bring his collection of tunes, andy can acquire microphones and some wires it looks like, we just need to find speakers, mixer, and amp!

Here are the suggestions from poconomon, in case anyone knows someone in the biz who is planning on being there:

Pretty Basic -System:
Mixer: I'll need at least 3 line inputs, 2 for music & 1 for Karaoke, it should have at least 4 to add a cd player (that's dual RCA input jacks) Mixer also should have an equalizer built in. & at least 2 mic inputs

AMP: at least a 500 watt amp

Speakers: a pair of 2 way with 15" woofers will work fine, stands for the speakers would help.

2 mics, speaker wires to run from amp to speakers, & cables from mixer to amp.
