I respect everyones opinions - but I just "choose my attitude" (I am doing the fish philosophy at work) .. that I am gonna have a GREAT time - no matter what!!!! I got some of my greatest friends that are going to be there that I miss

I have been there when Jimmy was there and when he wasnt. While it was really exciting when he was there - the year I went he was not expected - it was not as stressful - there was no "will he turn up, will I be in the right place" ..... it was just about "us".
If his band are there - it only gets the rumour mill going I guess and turns it in to all about Jimmy ....

I disagree. For the last 5 years the CRB members have been booked to play as part of the MOTM lineup, with no expectation of JB showing up. Plenty of Peter Mayer's fans were irritated that JB crashed the party in 2004 and Peter didn't get to play a full show of his music. Just because the band is there to play their own gigs doesn't mean JB will show (2003, 2005, 2006: CRB in KW, JB was not...)
The two discussions are really separate.... whether or not JB shows up at MOTM (as he isn't booked, obviously) is a different discussion from whether or not (not, this year) the members of the CRB (Peter Mayer, Mac McAnally and Club Trini, in particular) are available to play scheduled gigs at MOTM.

As I said - not a fan of the CRB music individually as such - eg Peter Mayer - I stay long enough to go take a look at him and then head off to see PH type music elsewhere - so it doesnt bother me!

i think another point that needs to be brought up here:while Jimmy is well aware of when MOTM is i am sure someone with all of his money PAYS PEOPLE to do his schedule and such! i know i sure as hell would if i had his money! who wants to deal with that crap if you don't have to?!?

Also - I guess - as a person going to MOTM - I have no more right for Jimmy to schedule his concerts around my holiday schedule than those that are not going to MOTM - it does not make me "more" deserving of having him consider our needs than others - eg those in Tampa.
I understand those that are upset - but in the big reality of the world - we are just little people - 3000 of us - he gets more in to a concert - and those that go to the concert will consider themselves just as a big parrotheads than those that are fortunate enough to have the means and time to get to MOTM.
3000 or so people are disappointed the Reefers won't be at MOTM. 20,000+ people will be happy to see the Reefers with Jimmy at each of 2 concerts in Tampa. I know I won't be at MOTM and I probably won't be in Tampa either so I'm not losing sleep over it. Life goes on.

I know its not the popular answer.... but I agree with you Larry.
However I will be in Tampa for at least one of the shows.... hell..... its 10 minutes from my house
That said.... Jimmy owes me nothing. PHIP is very specific about not having direct relationship with Mville or JB...... Its a seperate entity. Shoot.... I doubt PHIP called Jimmy and asked him his tour schedule when they selected this years dates. And vice versa on Jimmy's end.
I didnt go to MOTM last year to see Jimmy.... I didnt go to see the CRB in their various solo acts.... I went to share 4 fabulous days with like minded people.... any thing else was a bonus!
And... lets not forget.... Mr Buffett is an entertainer. We pay to see his show... or we dont. Its bidness.

for me - someone who never gets to see him as I live in another country - I will take the people any day at MOTM over a concert!
Most of the MOTM discussion has been not about JB showing up in KW, but about the CRB members not being able to play MOTM.....
I have never counted on JB showing up. It's fun when he does, but not expected or even hoped for. But the CRB members unable to play *their* shows definitely changes the flavor of MOTM.....

first of all, my thread was to be on the light hearted humorous side.
but, getting to the the meat of the matter is what jen touched on. we don't expect jb to show. we would like to go to our first MOTM with the CRB to be there. for us northerners we don't get the chance to see these artists/bands by themselves very often. david and i would like (as most of you) to get the most for our money since we aren't rich. we'd love to go to MOTM, see the CRB and other musicans, see fellow bn'ers and have a great time. we would also like to see jb concerts. the fact that the concerts were scheduled during MOTM not allowing the CRB to attend is what is the problem for us. some ph have chosen not to go because of it. so it's a choice for us of where to spend our $ to be with friends. some of our friends we'd like to be with will be at MOTM and some at Tampa. it would have killed 2 birds with one stone. we totally understand that jb has no attachment to MOTM.
to sum it up it's getting a chance to see our ph friends, have fun and enjoy the music that brought us together in the first place. i've been dying to go to MOTM for years and for us to actually go and not have CRB is a bit of a disappointment.

I know it is Carol. And while I posted the black and white answer.... deep down in my heart I DO wonder why that date was chosen.... but we may never know so I have to live with the fact that it was.... and move on.
If you have already signed up for MOTM. is there any way you can combine both? There are early AM flights Friday from TPA to KW....... Just trying to reason with the season......

I've felt snubbed all year... after so many years of Charlotte in a row, now nothing. And that was my first show ever. Maybe, next year. Just godda hope. Maybe his company has something againt Verizon Wirless Amph.

Of course Larry's point I think was that many more people would get to see him - I saw it more as more money from the business perspective. I'm just p*** because I commited to something else Sat night!
I do think MOTM will be fun with all the singers who will be there. So many good songwriters! So many Parrotheads! So many Bars!!!
