AWWW! You guys are the bestest
I didn't even know this was posted!
I hadn't been checking as often as I like for a couple of weeks before the convention because I had so much work to do to get ready (okay, it was Gencon, a gaming convention in Indianapolis that I teach chainmail construction and costuming at every year). Because there is construction at the convention center, all of the classes had to be held at adjoining hotels, which meant I had to go up and down all kinds of elevators and stairs to get to everyplace I had to be
. I was stupid and had a fairly elaborate dress on because I had just come from my costuming class, and had 3 bags slung over me, and not exactly the best shoes on. I was fine on the escalator until a friend called my name at the top because I had left my coffee on the table up there, I twisted around, foot slipped off, I wasn't holding on to anything, and we all know where this is going
Tumble, tumble, and I was a road block at the bottom of the escalator. I was so unbelievably mortified because everything I was holding went everywhere, the dress was tangled all around me, and my headpiece fell off and broke.
Some of the staff and my friends got me and all my junk out of the way, and I thought I had just gotten really bruised, so I didn't think anything of it. But it didn't get any better, and I started to get a really sharp clicking pain in my knee once we got home, so my husband dragged me to the hospital. Obviously all the limping around and moving didn't do me any good, so the two fractures got worse from all that, and I have some muscle or ligament damage from the way I fell on it.
I'm to stay off of it and keep it straight as much as I can for the next two weeks and they'll do x rays again, etc. and see if it's better. If not, I'll have to get surgery
I was doing so well in not getting hurt, too
Thanks so much for the well wishes. They really made my day

Hahah! Actually this is one of many times I've broken a bone in my legs (usually ankles), which is probably why I don't pay as much attnention to it when it happens.mommar wrote:![]()
