Pssst, Shrinky....you can hear the whole thing over at CMT.com
It's not bad...a couple songs I wasn't too crazy about on the first listen but they weren't horrible. I liked the rest of them. Walmart will be selling it combined with a dvd of concert footage, backstage stuff and all that. iTunes has a preorder special, if you preorder it you get a bonus song and a video to one of the songs. Just thought I'd let ya know.

I won't buy it simply because the title of that song is grammatically incorrect. Kenny needs some alone time until he can get things right.

the title of the album is a little misleading imo, well, maybe if you're a parrothead expecting something tropical.
I figured there'd be more island sounding stuff with it being called Poets and Pirates, Just Who I am. 2 songs kinda have that flavor. I'll probably pick it up in the next couple of days.

I need to remember to put smilies at the end of my posts when I'm being a smartass. I'm not buying the album because I'm not a fan.

I have had the CD now for a week. Its OK if you like Kenny. It is not PURE COUNTRY though.
If you have liked kenny for a while, you will like this im sure, lots of the CD sound like stuff he has done before.
I just dont think its that great of CD because he is trying to steal Parrotheads away.
I just hope that none of the greats go this route.
LONG LIVE REDNECK COUNTRY.
and on that note
PLAY SOMETHING COUNTRY

I agree with you Matt, it's certainly not pure country....but very little country music these days is. Hell, the best way to make it as a singer today (even as a flash in the pan) is to market yourself as a "country" artist, when in truth most acts are pop or Top 40. Doesn't mean I don't like them, just that the definiton of country has definitely been blurred.
I don't see this album as parrotheady...not like Old Blue Chair was. I see this as more introspective if anything. The melodies remind me of OBC, but I guess you write what you know.
We're lucky enough to like as many different artists as we choose. No one artist is going to "steal" me away from anyone else because my tastes are just way too eclectic....there's just too much stuff I enjoy listening to. And I'll probably go to BN hell for this, but I don't even listen to Jimmy on a day to day basis....not even on a week to week basis unless I have my iPod on shuffle. I prefer not to limit myself, and I go through phases where some things are more prominent than others. That doesn't make me any less loyal a fan. If anything it just makes me more well rounded and appreciative of all the different types of music and artists out there, and their influences on so many.

I wanted to go to his tour this year. And when I go to country shows, I always sit in the first 10 rows center stage. ( hell I had front row for Brad Paisley just 2 weeks ago).
I wanted to go to that Kenny tour ----Not to see Kenny--but to see Sugarland and Pat Green. I woulda gone for sure If I coulda made it to Ford Field because Brooks and Dunn were playing it too. But for me to see Sugarland being second staged to Kenny--- Im sorry Im not paying 90 bucks to sit near Jennifer Nettles only for a small set. And no your NOT going to hell for not listening to Jimmy on a day to day basis. Hell I can't remember the last time I actually put in a Jimmy CD. I was so disappointed in the tour this year, I do not know If I will go back ever again. I lost all faith in him as a performer.
For me know its gotta be Country, or if its the Eagles---they are probably the only band I will spend over 400 bucks on for a ticket, PER A SHOW.

From what I have heard he didn't write a single song on the cd.

FYI - There's a good 5-6 page article in the new issue of Country Weekly where KC goes through and explains the intent behind the song selections for this album.. in case anyone is interested in getting the info. straight from the horses mouth. That is assuming the new issue is out on news stands by now.. my issue just arrived in the mail today.
