Need some help with finding a condo/townhouse to rent in March.
I've checked online with a few places, but no one seems to be very helpful! I know that I've seen "connections" mentioned here on BN before (in re: MOTM, I think)
If anyone has any suggestions and/or contacts, I'd greatly appreciate it!

We are staying at a house on Sunset Key in April. It is the little island just off the end of Key West at Mallory Square. They have a boat shuttle that take you back and forth every 1/2 hour. It looks unbelievable!!! I'm not sure About $$. My Brother-in-law rented it for a month and we were asked to come down. They have a website if you want to check it out.
Last year we stayed at the Southernmost Hotel at the east end of Duval St. (quiet end) and loved it. Walking distance to all the action and right around the corner from Louies Backyard.

I've lived in Key West and if I had the money I wouldn't stay there . . . rent a condo a few islands up . . . quiet and you get way more for your dollar (KW is just not worth the expense) . . . you can always roll down to Pepe's for breakfast without hassle
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

Just moved out of Key West earlier this Summer..
You stated you were looking for a condo/townhouse... how many people are in your party? What type of amenities are you looking for? Though, a lil personal.. what's your budget per night and for how many nights? With answers to these I can most likely point you in the right direction.. feel free to PM me if more comfortable discussing such in that manner.
If you would be satisfied with a simple hotel room.. I would recommend the La Concha. It's centrally located ON Duval (400 block) yet is very quiet on the inside.. it's the tallest building on the island which can provide some nice views.. though there are no rooms with balconies. When my family came down to visit in March of 2006 they managed to get a very nice and CLEAN room for $90/night and when they went to check out they were offered an additional night for half price. It's a Crown Plaza Hotel.. so, something you might be familiar with.
Otherwise, all the "affordable" accommodations in Key West have been shut down within the last year or so, for the most part. This is because most owners think they can convert these properties into permanent resident condo's and make more money off the sale as opposed to the rental.. and the new condo owners believe that they can make their monthly mortgage payment back in just a couple of week rentals - which will never happen! Plus, we have a bunch of uppity snotty a$$ greedy mothertruckers on the city council who want to level all the affordable rentals and build this huge ass convention center... their ultimate goal is to model Key West off some "rich mans playground" island and raise the cost of living to such a point to where all the working class in KW have to live further up the keys and be bussed in. Dumbasses!! Anywhoooo... apologies for the rant.. but when you cant find a place for a reasonable price.. now you know! You may still find listings for Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, and Days Inn... but those and the like have all shut down within the last year! This also means fewer and fewer people are coming onto the island and fewer and fewer locals can afford to live there
At least the island will be quieter than it was a couple of years ago... despite Spring Breakers coming down in March!
Again... sorry for the rant!

We went to bed about 2:30 am, got up about 8:30am and the car park was packed with bikes. DID NOT HERE ANY OF THEM ARRIVE!! The must have wheeled them in.
